I don't have to compare sources, though I can, to understand finance and economics. Like many others, a person shouldn't have to refer to an article when you have foundational knowledge about the topic unless you are deep diving further.

As mentioned by others, once the damage is done are you ever fully made whole again. Many will be ok, but once a small business shuts its doors are they opening back up when inflation slows. How about the impact on the time value of money?

Depends on the severity and duration of the inflation ... and whether or not stagflation has resulted. You are correct that some businesses never recover ... but again, I was speaking in macroeconomic terms.

Here's an indication just how screwed up the military is over hardware costs. Funding that allows two additional fighters is basically nuts. Two of something very specialized like an AWACS or intelligence gathering airplane is one thing ... two of a fighter is a whole different issue. Basically says the military is pricing themselves out of business. Depending on fewer weapons of increased and hypothesized capability (when available) over larger numbers of simpler and more easily maintained stuff that actually works most of the time. It's self inflicted to a great extent; if we were following the trend set by others instead of setting the trend, you might argue that's the way you have to go.
