And all of those schools are also competing against every other collective in the country. Spyre is supposed to be “the most ambitious NIL collective” in the NCAA with a goal of around 30M. I’m not entirely sure what “ambitious NIL” means, but it sounds like Spyre anticipated a much greater investment from the fanbase than what we have ended up getting. I want to say there was a report late in 2022 that stated they fell drastically short of that 30M goal and weren’t even able to crack 10M. Hence why I said I don’t think our collective is as good as a lot of people think. Maybe they’ve reached their goal by now. Who knows, but that report along with the fact we only have 3k members of the volunteer club where there are around 75k season ticket holders for football alone is a joke. If people have the money and are invested enough to buy season tickets an extra 60 or 600 bucks a year to insure we can essentially sign any player we want shouldn’t be an issue for them. Let’s just say the wealthiest 3000 of our season ticket holders are those members of the volunteer club. Then take 50k of the season ticket holders and imagine if they donated 5 per month and the wealthier 10k decides to donate 50 per month that gives us an additional 9M in NIL per year for football alone. I think they’ve done a decent job as far as working with what they currently have to work with, but the fan outreach seems to be something they’ve struggled withor a lot of you have unrealistic expectations of them.
Rushing is vs Oregon
Nwarei is against Georgia and Oklahoma
Franklin is against UF and OM
Jefferson is against Bama
Spillman is Ohio State
Wingo is Michigan and Texas
Matthews is Clemson and USC
notice anything about that list of our top wants, specifically about the competition?
There isn't a single repeat for our top competition. which means you are expecting our collective to be better than all the other combined collectives. Its not like Georgia is taking every player we want, and with a school like OM they are probably going all in on Franklin, where we have options, and going all in on one player would be dumb, and would likely lose us out to the rest.
Which of those players are you willing to just give up on to ensure more money to the others to win?
If you have invested in season ticket you may not have an additional $600 to give to a collective. Most Vol fans are middle class at best and the current economic situation dishes out other priorities, as it is.And all of those schools are also competing against every other collective in the country. I play with the class calculator for fun too, but I don't know how close you can actually get. Also excluded Rushing.. forgot to mention him. But if we get Okoye does Ross come here is the question for me

I think they focus more on keeping our elite players happy and not thinking about the portal. They are more proven than most, if not all recruits. And all of those schools are also competing against every other collective in the country. I do think it’s moving in the right direction enough that I could see Rushing suiting up in Knoxville but I’m just not over the hump yet. Give it another few days and I may be ready to take the Vols in this one.
-APIt’s still a coin flip but it was trending the other way and now it’s gotten interesting imo
