President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

He's bragging about "buckling down" and getting a 15k loan paid off. Big whoop. I'm laughing at you for thinking it doesn't matter the difference in tuition over the last 40 years. Y'all boomers paid 10k for a college degree, 4k for a new car, 40k for a new house. Boomers literally had everything the needed pretty much readily available to them and all they had to do was not **** it up, and refuse to see how it is completely different today.

I wish I could go back to 17 year old me and tell me DO NOT go to college, but my boomer parents drilled it into my head if I didn't go to college I'd always be poor.

Or if you are going to go to a ridiculous tuition university make sure you study something that has a ROI.

I guess if I'm jealous of one thing, it's just how easy boomers had it to achieve the American dream. It was basically handed to them. And they won't acknowledge it. They just think young people are stupid and lazy.
I always enjoy looking back at where I started and how hard I worked to get where I am while having some victim mentality kid lamenting how easy I had it compared to them 🤡

If it is any consolation at all, the older generation has been lamenting the younger generation for millennia. Seriously, Egyptian papyri has been found complaining of the younger Egyptians work ethic and morality. You and I will do it, too, more than likely.
I seriously hope not. Idk how it can get much worse. A new Civic is 30+k and I'm looking at houses in ****ing Kingsport less than 2k SQ feet for 400+k. It just is not sustainable. I'm just glad I bought my current house before **** went crazy. I didn't plan on staying here that long but I'll die here before I pay these prices.

I know you’re right but it still pisses me off. There is a whole society of college professors whose livelihood relies on continued bloated tuition prices to support.
Young lady at my church just finished her second year at the college my daughter attended. She is an elementary education major. If she is taking out loans for tuition (i doubt she is), she will have 160k+ in student loan debt and be qualified to teach elementary school.

😳 that’s f$&@ing crazy and any scenario like that even being possible should be illegal.

Hey if a kid has daddy warbucks to foot the bill who cares. But lending at a crazy level for a degree with that ROI should be outlawed.

If you're in your early thirties now, you will look back on this time in your 80s and think how affordable everything is. Seriously, inflation is part of our economic norm. We just happen to be in a period of time with accelerated inflation.

I know. When she announced her college and major at our annual honoring our high school seniors celebration at church, I turned to my wife and said, I hope her parents are paying the bulk of the tuition.

Tell Dims to stay in the s***holes they created.

McRib and I have been fortunate and we've taken some calculated risks with our money. Unless something catastrophic happens, we will get all our kids through college (assuming the youngest wants to attend) with zero student loan debt.

Any masters or phds are on them, though.

Ah there’s the problem. Church filling the kids mind with unreasonable expectations and insulating them from the real world. Us 20 something heathens were educated on basic economics in paying for hookers and blow 😂

I made some stupid economic decisions when I was young. My first new car right out of college comes to mind. Nothing fatal but maybe not the best thought out. But I always had a really great earning potential to help buffer that a bit with my BSEE from UT

Here's to hoping I guess. If that is the case the minimum wage needs to be increased like yesterday.

And just so y'all know I know I'm bitching a lot but my wife and I aren't struggling we actually live very comfortably.

Hey, as long as you got the money to tithe, the church don't care what else you do with your money. LOL

I’d love to have a discussion with 50 year old you and see just how damn tired you have become in taking care of business for you and yours while being expected to bail out the stupidity of others. I can assure you your views are going to change.

Minimum wage will be increased. But here's the crazy thing, in middle tn no one is starting at minimum. Some entry level jobs are already at $20 because they can't find employees for less.

Basing economic indicators like housing and cost of living on what the lowest wages in society are isn't really a fair way to assess our economy.

Fair point but entry level part time retail (at least in the tri-cities) is still at 9-10 an hour. When those jobs are at 15 then it will start to catch up to where to should be.

Most likely yes.

I am lucky have to have kept my expenses low. I cannot imagine being a renter with a car payment right now. Life would be very different.

You’re always going to look at finances and wonder how you’ll make it work. I don’t care what you make unless you hit the lottery and it’s not an issue. But if you always make it work you will get sick and tired of hearing why the hell you need to be the one to help bail out purposeful waste and piss poor choices like this $400B student loan stupidity.

I understand. And I am affirming wages are about to increase. But part time retail is getting paid what they are worth.

My peer in Johnson City is hiring line cooks with no experience at $15 an hours. Dishwasher no experience $18. A 16 year old host makes $10-$12
