More than likely a PR blunder. The hunter news is already out there. Even CNN is putting words to it. Do you agree with hunter getting off with probation essentially?

According to the whistle-blower, Weiss was halted from pursuing by Obama appointed US Attorneys.

EDIT - They were Biden appointed US Attorneys.

Detecting an underwater implosion isn’t part of the Navy’s advanced submarine surveillance program though.

They could have simply said - we detected an acoustic anomaly that is consistent with a submersible implosion at blank hour.

That’s it. And none of this other stuff gets legs.

Venue. You have to bring charges in the area where the crimes occurred. Hunter lives in CA so the gun charges would have to be brought by the US Attorney in CA and the tax charges in DC where they were prepared. Both Obama appointed US Attorneys in DC and CA said no dice.

@Orangeslice13 has been saying that nothing's going to happen for years. He's yet to be proven wrong.

Political connections are a thing - hell, it's part of having "power."

Saying that Weiss, a trump attorney, did not charge is probably part of the media's effort to discredit this effort and could also be part of why nothing is going to happen.

Question. Is it expected that a political appointee retained after a change in administration stay loyal to the administration that appointed them? Or do most go with the flow of the new administration in order to keep their jobs?

From the article all of this is based on: "A top secret military acoustic detection system designed to spot enemy submarines first heard what the U.S. Navy suspected was the Titan submersible implosion hours after the submersible began its voyage, officials involved in the search said."

I like to keep a few different conspiracies in my pocket. What I'm saying is, at that point they can make the assumption that it was the sub implosion; but you don't have definitive proof. For all they knew, it could have been Captain Tupelov's boat getting torpedoed.

Given the sh*t storm it causes remove a US attorney, I'd think that most would stay principled to what they believe.

Pretty rare that it occurs, but it's certainly plausible that they'd take the path of least resistance.

I'd have to know more about what he is accused of, what he was investigated for, what evidence the DOJ actually had, and what people with similar criminal histories charged with the same crimes were offered.
