Agree, he did think that. They also had Lindsey on a short leash, which I admire them doing. Kept them in the game by quick hooks.

I just dont coach worship anymore. TV, Heup, Rick are all high quality. Glad to have them and hope each win at least one NC. But it is OK with me for anybody to acknowledge they mess up just like we do at times. My hope has been that our guys win at least one game. I have no delusions they will win it all. Too many weak links IMO.

Lindsey is a sinkerball pitcher. His slider is a small breaker that is flat and has a mediocre changeup. JMO - he was getting hit hard in the previous start because he was inexperienced in games of that magnitude. He was overthrowing in that one and this one - look at the balls/strikes of his pitchcount. That's nerves and adrenaline pumping. His fastball was 94-96 and he was not throwing strikes and locating, which he has to do to be successful. It's not going to sink at that speed, it flattens out. He does his best work at 90-93. LSU is a strong hitting team against power pitching. It was predictable to me that he may not do well due to the situation and his inexperience in them based on his last performance and being out of baseball the season before.

Halvorson is also a power pitcher and why he had more trouble as well. His pitches are flatter due to the velocity. USM is not near the hitting team of LSU and it showed.

It was a match-up issue. Dollander is a highball pitcher with more velocity, movement and big game moments from the season before. Beam's pitching was stellar in his last outing. He commanded all of his pitches, located great and the ball was moving. Both were better match-ups against LSU in my and other minds.

But the only opinion that mattered was TV's. I share the sentiment that it would be a huge disservice to one of the most important players on the team by far to not have the opportunity to pitch in the CWS. I hope it works out for him and us that he does not have to experience that disappointment.
So Dollander is good enough to beat LSU and their number 1 and number 2 draft pick players, but not Stanford? I get some of your logic, but not following that line of thought. Baseball is a game of what the stats say over time as well as pitcher routines. It is something you just don't mess with after 50+ games tell you what you should do. Dollander's fastball movement has not been even close to what it was last year, thus why they moved Lindsey to the Friday night role.

I can't take my dog to the pond anymore because the ducks keep attacking him. That's what I get for buying a pure bread dog.

People in Athens rarely get up before sunrise. Dawn is tough on Greece.

Never date a tennis player. Love means nothing to them.

Happy Father's Day Morans!

Lol. What a lame attempt at disparaging Skenes. Sad you can’t give credit where it’s due.

Well it is baseball. Wouldn't be even the 100th time a phenom turned out to be enhanced. But apart from him being a machine, there's no more evidence of Skenes doping than when Arkansas fans accused one of our guys.

It wasn't. If you actually watch baseball, pitchers who show control get questionable calls. Hell Maddox got to the hall of fame because of it. But fans gotta blame refs whenever we don't succeed because ignorance.
Oh I gotcha. Haven't seen the game...and won't now. Nobody ever likes the umps...when it's not good for them.

But I'm still shocked baseball doesn't just use their sensor tech to call strikes and balls.

I agree with all of this, absolutely...but, you have to be close. If you think some of them pitches last night (especially the two ring-up's) were even in the same area code as close, your compass is broken. Did we lose that game because of the umps, though? Not even close, as well. Plate ump was pretty damn consistent all night, and I had no problem with the strikes he called that could have went either way; but, there were a few that were bullsh!t, and it was obvious to everyone but Ray Charles.

That's the beautiful thing about rights, they're most powerful when someone else's don't go through your or my "I see" statements. "I see" it that in most cases, companies should have the right to their hiring demands, and the market will generally respond. If refusing to hire cigarette smokers puts them at a disadvantage to their competitors, there you go. If refusing people who imbibe in alcohol puts them at a disadvantage, there you go.

A potential difference between alcohol and pot is the ability to test for it in real time. I'd say most companies have a policy against imbibing on the job. They can test for that in real time. Can't do that with MJ, opiates, etc.

So, even legal opiates are tested for. If you're popped for legal opiates, you have to show a prescription or there's problems.

Not sure it's such a hypocrisy as much as a different way you have to treat each substance due to their testability. (And legality.)

But yah, I've worked in plants with truck loaders, truck drivers, crane operators... They tested you for everything for safety reasons, and if you fail, you're done. No questions. I've worked for insurance companies where they are also your health insurance provider, and they created policies that refuse to hire smokers.
But you can. There are different tests that limit use to 12-24 hours. Sweat, saliva(?), maybe another.

But that would take people using their brain, rather than just testing for something that occurred 29 days ago, which is flat stupid. Let's get a test for alcohol that goes back 30 days and see how it flies.

Or don't test at all. Ask, "do you drink alcohol?". "Yes on the weekends". "well, we have a drug-free policy, sorry. No drug users can work here". Oh...except alcohol is miraculously "not a drug" somehow according to companies... 😒🤔😂

Hypocrisy at the highest order. Managers at my plant literally brag about how much they drank the night before. But mention smoking at The Doobie Brothers show a month ago and say goodbye to your job.

I got ya. And I get you. I remember being a younger guy with hair down to my back. I knew if I wanted a certain type of job, I'd need to cut my hair before the interview as the bosses bragged about their $30 haircuts.

If I wanted that job, I cut my hair. You can call it hypocrisy. OK. I'll still call it their prerogative.

I cut my hair, by the way. Because I didn't have a right to walk in and demand they give me job/money/career on my terms. It was theirs to either give or not.

You can smoke pot on your terms and get jobs on your terms. They can give the jobs on their terms.

Skenes “showed control” because he was getting 6 inches in every direction. Questionable calls high, low, and outside. He should have walked at least 2 more. I was a pitcher growing up and obviously loved getting the corners, but the pitch against Denton was unhittable.

Skenes is great, but he’s impossible if you are simply going to make those calls. The zone was squeezed all year in SEC play, and then the zone by a failed MLB PAC 12 ump is much wider. Comments were made by the commentating crew, so it was very apparent.

I don’t get why people think UT losing and bad officiating are mutually exclusive. The NCAA is a big business, and they continue to trot out horrible products. It’s embarrassing.

Bad news for llineals, TN was at an at will employment State, I checked.

I agree with all of this...but, I also believe a privately-owned company can test for whatever they please, however they please, and the employee/potential empolyee can choose to either take said test, or not.

However, yes, I think it's the height of absurdity to test/not hire/fire because of marijuana, while keeping a bottle in the filing cabinet for office celebrations or knock-off time at the plant.

Home plate umpires should be replaced by robots. We have the technology. Just imagine the first time a robot tossed a coach for arguing a call.

NCAA Conference Call:

NCAA exec: "The humans will accept Robot Ref 2000 if we just give it a nice name. Any suggestions?"

VN : "Sally"

NCAA exec: "My name is Bing, not Sally!"
