He looks a little like a Mexican. Mexicans are sometimes called Beaners. Pepper asked if he was picking beans. "A LITTLE" racist.

If I had crayons I'd draw you a picture.

I pick green beans every year and don't even require the use of a sombrero or goofy hat.

@Tin Man needs to give you a little lesson on respect, tolerance, and acceptance.

I did something I've never really done before, I recycled. We have a horrible trash problem, as in too much. We have a little recycling center just a couple of miles up the road, so two weeks ago we started to cut down on trash. Tiffany gets a ton of medical stuff in cardboard, and we probably empty 10+ plastic bottles a day. That's not counting milk jugs, laundry detergent, etc, plus cardboard from cereal boxes, cakes, etc. In two weeks time I filled up two trash bags with just plastic, and had a huge box of broken down cardboard. For the first time in probably forever 🤣, all of our trash fit in the can without leaving the lid open. I also started taking leftover vegetables, and pouring them into the woods. Idk if it's deer, rabbit, or what, but it's getting eaten within a day. I'd say deer, we have a ton. Something really loves the baked potato scraps with the real butter, they get gone fast.

Sustaining our country and wildlife.

Souce lives in your woods?

Seriously, the Ingle's here is the place that has the recycling dumpsters at the corner of the parking lot. I take cardboard and plastic bottles there.

What about the scraps with sour cream? @volfanbill

Seriously, good for you. Keep an eye out though for an increase in less warm and fuzzy critters, like possums and raccoons. You probably don't want to contribute to a population explosion for them!

Yeah possums and raccoons will split and double if you give them scraps of food sorta like getting gremlins wet. 😛

Plus, not only do the original local ones start explosively reproducing, but the word goes out, and all their second and third cousins and hairdressers' brothers-in-law and kids back on their 3rd grade kickball team come join in the fun.

I don't think they have a chance with all the rabbits we have. Bugs and his cousins are everywhere here🤣

Y’all quit dissing possums.
It'd be alright if there are some apex predators, like wolves, to keep things in balance. Absent that (or a bunch of kids with bb guns), an explosion of possums can reduce the available food for other critters, so then you've got that. Maybe it's desirable in his area, I dunno, but either encouraging or removing a species in the ecosystem can create some surprising results. We humans don't have a great track record of foreseeing what will happen when we wade into the natural order. *cough* kudzu *cough*

Mr. Lonelyheart, aka Bob the Lightning Bug, aka one of his surviving kinfolk, is flying around the deck and veg garden. He still doesn't seem to have any lady friends (or gennulmen friends, this being AVL) to keep him company, but at least there's still one.

I remember as a kid, 60 years ago, going out at dusk with an empty mayo jar and collecting dozens of fireflies in an hour or so, letting them light up in my room that evening before I let them go again.

What a loss to children of all ages. (Not to mention the lightning bugs.)
