Gun control debate (merged)

We rarely go 6 months without one? What’s the definition?

Japan has a terrible problem with mass attacks.
Western Europe is home to horrific mass attacks.
South Africa is a hotbed for mass attacks.
Well apparently we average more than 1 a day. I’ve heard a stupid ass comment that we’ve had 199 mass shootings already this year. Zero breakdown of that stat when it’s trotted out.

Oh that’s the “mass shooting” statistic - 4 people simply shot, not counting the shooter, no fatalities required.

That number is juiced by the gang violence in places like Chicago.

BB has evolved beyond that nonsense. He’s created a sub-category that conveniently ignores the vast majority of those shootings and the weapons used.

US accounted for 73 percent of global mass shootings

From the article above, which was published in the :

International Journal of Comparative and Applied Criminal Justice

"A study on mass shootings in developed countries showed that 101 out of 139 attacks took place in the U.S. between 1998 and 2019, leading to 816 deaths."

"The findings also found that 62 percent of all 1,318 fatalities from mass shootings during the period happened in the U.S."

"Of the 101 attacks that occurred in the U.S. between 1998 and 2019, there were 816 deaths. In comparison, France had the next highest number of mass shootings with eight, which led to 179 deaths."

*****************************************************
101 mass shooting attacks from the start of 1998 to the end of 2019 (22 years) ... comes out to an average of 4.59 mass shootings per year, or approximately 1 every 3 months (and that's rounding down). There are different ways to tweak the statistics based on how "mass shootings" are defined, but obviously, the problem of mass shootings is much worse in the United States than it is in other developed countries around the world. That wouldn't be a point of contention to a reasonable person based on all available information.

At this point, it seems like you are just arguing for the hell of it. If that's the case, do it with someone else.

That’s “shootings”. I’m not disputing that. I already stated our mass attacks are different.

I was simply pointing out that other areas of the world have serious problems with mass attacks as well.

You even bolder my sentence with mass attack

Isn't the topic of this thread "Gun control debate" ?????

Now, exactly what the hell would any other type of attack, besides mass shootings, have to do with this thread?

Good freakin' lord!

My apologies then. I wasn’t trying to run you.

I thought you were saying we suffer a higher frequency of mass attacks because of guns.

Other parts of the world suffer high frequency of mass attack too.

Ours are generally more deadly. Though I think mass attacks in Japan are pretty on par with ours.

I think we need to look at what has changed in our culture that is the motivation for these shootings. We've had the freedoms to carry guns since our founding yet it's been in the last 8-12 years where the shootings have increased. guns aren't to blame, I believe we're cultivating a culture that believes there is no right or wrong, there is no consequences for our actions.

What has changed the most is our willingness as a nation to allow ourselves to be propagandized by for profit media into viewing the other side as the enemy.

Anyone who views the other side as the enemy embodies much of what is wrong with the nation.

No consequences for our actions?

The United States has the highest prison population in the world (actually, we are neck and neck with China - even though they have over 3 times as many people).

how does that make someone think it's ok to shoot a bunch of people?

no, your right, we have consequences but kids are no longer taught right and wrong, it's all relative. this generation no longer believes in objective truths.

Who are you and what have you done with Luther?

A white supremacist Hispanic.

No surprise. Remember when Freddie Grey died in Baltimore and they told us the Cops were racist. Riots followed. Of the 6 Police Officers involved, 3 were African American and one of those was the driver of the vehicle in which Freddie died. It doesn't have to pass the common sense test for the MSM and Dems to claim something ridiculous.
Also when Trayvon Martin was killed, they invented a new race of "White Hispanic" to describe George Zimmerman and portray him as a white racist.

how does that make someone think it's ok to shoot a bunch of people?
We condition our military to be willing to kill the "enemy." It makes them "patriots", respectable, heroes. What's more admirable than sacrificing your life while killing the enemy?

Don't give him too much credit. He thinks only the right is brainwashed. CNN, MSNBC, and the rest of the MSM, speak the truth. 😅
Wrong, everyone is on the brainwashed continuum. It's just that the "thoroughly brainwashed" end of the continuum is completely dominated by the right.

Holy cow.

Not the ones who think boys can be girls, women should be able to kill their babies all the way up to term, we should cancel the 2nd amendment, everyone should be forced to drive an EV, and that drag shows are good for children?

That's unbelievable.

The thoroughly brainwashed on the right as you say we're 100% correct on alot of things you lefties were slurping up, Russia collusion, Steeler dossier, pee tapes, COVID, and thats just the last 4 or 5 years
