The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

now that the stadium deal done, I do not expect this franchise to chase star free agents or make any kind of big draft moves. it's back to the days of 7-win seasons and the "lunchpail" mentality, which has never quite fit in a city that projects a forward foot of loud and proud rhinestone-clad stars.

I don't understand you guys and Tannehill. Dude has been super successful here and was injured last year. Having him there this year, healthy, is good for the team.
I guess the question is whether or not the team was ever successful as a result of Tannehill, i.e., did he ever do anything to lift the team past what appears to be great coaching. (I think Vrabel is great and Arthur Smith was a great OC.)

Personally I do not see a world where Tannehill is resigned by the Titans when his deal expires. And in 2023 I see no reason to suggest the Titans are legitimate Super Bowl contenders. I think he’s going to get cut or traded.

Skoronski always made the most sense. Needed stability at guard badly. He’s also kind of the perfect pick in the sense that he will be good right away and plug a serious hole, but guards don’t change teams very much. You can pick this guy and still keep your eyes towards a small rebuild.

41 is interesting. There are a ton of good players still on the board.

Rexrode over at The Athletic is adamant the Titans like Levis. Others have reported the same. He could be there at 41. The prospect of a pick like that scares me though, because they tried a similar thing with Malik Willis last year. Draft the falling QB everyone thought was a first rounder.

Cris Collinsworth said on the PFF show last night that the Titans really like Dawand Jones from Ohio State. Obvious Vrabel ties there and tackle is a need.

I don’t see them going WR this early if the idea is to rebuild next season. One of Darnell Washington, Michael Mayer or Sam LaPorta should be available. Brian Branch or Drew Sanders also feel like Vrabel picks.

I’m good with Skoronski, not a flashy pick but probably the safest pick and fills a big need. With the two picks today I hope we go WR and TE (no particular order) but something tells me we might go Edge with our 2nd round pick, and there’s also the Levi’s wildcard.

JMO...but I think Tanneyhill is a decent game manager that looks better when Henry is a force. When the run game is hurting and play action isn't effective he isn't the type of QB that's gonna win games. Of course bad pass protection...not much at WR and TE it makes things much worse.

JMO - Pre-draft Ran and Vrabs said OL, WR, CB. I believe them. I still think they should wait on QB until next year's draft or if they can pick up a back-up with upside in trade or FA to replace Tanny down the road. Right or wrong I just don't see them moving on from Willis this quick unless they can get Hooker in the third or fourth round. They had a far better back-up than Willis in Dobbs and they did not sign him.

I think what he have right now.... At this moment in Tannehill is the second best QB in the division. I wasn't a huge believer in any of these guys. Next year is the year to be bold, not this one.

Improved the offensive line for sure. Just not sure he’s a tackle and I’m not sure how valuable a guard is.
He can play either position. Probably best suited as gaurd but of you need him to play tackle he can.

I'm the opposite I thought these guys were better.
Caleb Williams will be another Lincoln Riley bust and Drake Maye is Trubisky 2.0. I don't want either.

At some point, i really hope we make a move to secure 1-Mayer or 2- Mingo/Hyatt.

No way i would have ever thought Mayer doesn’t go in first round. Can’t believe he dropped this far.
I don't think Mingo is still there, Tillman or some other bigger physical type receivers will be available 2-4 rounds.

I want them to get a switch blade TE, bigger body if possible.

I think they will be solid but I think there could be a couple of other guys overtake them. Just a gut though.

I hated the thought of Levis at 11. I could live with that pick at 41. He has a NFL arm with a middle school attitude.

But, hope he is off board by then.

Out of curiosity who do you thu k might over take them?
Not sure about anyone specifically but I could see Jefferson, Hayden, Hartman or Daniels shoot up. I think Williams is legit. Not sold on Maye but if he shows out again I could change my mind.

Edit to add: forgot about Milton, can he put a good season together? He has all the tools.

I think Rattler has a good season and gets drafted.... I don't think he's legit though.
