In the now-famous Levis case, ESPN's "the GMs head faking" story is a very partial truth and really amounts to a form of lying.

The truth is that the networks -- ESPN above all -- made out mayonaise-boy to be the greatest QB and a candidate for #1 pick all season long and into the post-season.

It was ESPN's "analytics" (wink, wink) (not the GMs) that determined that there was only a 0.1% chance of Levis falling that far. That was ESPN's opinion or "narrative" or talking point for years.

Now, the media -- and especially ESPN -- is trying to mislead its audience (as is their standard practice) into believing they they themselves were simply reporting the facts as known and something secret went down. I call BS.

Read this board for the last 2 years! It was clear that the networks and ESPN were extravagantly lying about Levis all along.

If there was head faking, it presupposed and required the years-long media hype. I'm not defending the indefensible (Levis), I'm calling out the propaganda move that ESPN is now feeding its addicts. Their new "story" is designed to conceal their old "story" of years in duration.
Yep

The Broncos are willing to move up to pick 42 if Hendon is still available. Something to watch for. They have a trade offer in place should Hendon keep dropping.

If they can't get Hendon, they'll grab Stetson Bennett later in the round.
The Broncos would be great. I don't like the idea of him or anyone of ours in Washington. But I'll celebrate HH anywhere.

It wasn’t just ESPN or Kiper saying….. it was being said by many different analysts and gambling sites…. There probably were some teams that wanted up but minds may have been changed by how the draft went.
There was an entire year of media propaganda. You repeat ESPN's lines a lot imo. I don't follow gambling sites, but did they make huge bank, prepared by ESPN's hype train? I'm going to guess: yes. But I restricted my claim to what the sports media and especially ESPN did in fact. And I am correct. Were the "analysts" you refer to on television?

Hooker with Sean Payton would be great.

Stetson Bennett in the 2nd round though??? Would be a massive reach.

You're saying NFL guys caught up to VNRF's two-year assessment but at the last minute. I wouldn't object to that claim in principle. But I'm guessing some NFL guys saw what we saw long before.

You must be thinking of the wrong poster….. I NEVER EVER watch ESPN unless it’s the draft or a ballgame is on…. I hate all of their other shows…. I might post some of their stuff if I find it interesting from Twitter…. I don’t follow any of them though for the same reason.

I have followed the draft enough to know a small contingent of teams will drool over a qb like Levis… He has a good build, mobility, and a great arm… He dropped bc he is a very weird, odd guy, imo. The colts were probably choosing between him and AR, imo.

I mean, to me. ESPN was pushing a narrative, which works for CFB. NFL GM's etc aint takin' the bait, there's too much at stake, after all they're pros. That's why Pro poker players have the best poker faces...

Business is business. Its ugly.

One one hand the emotional side, I feel badly for Levis.

Realistically, he was his own worst enemy, putting on airs. On the other hand, it gives me great satisfaction knowing that the human higher brain function was used in a discerning manner.

Bottom line, millions arent going to just be handed over to someone just because...paper tiger has to earn it.

I think there were 3-4 teams(maybe less) that were in the market for a qb in the first round and liked other players on the board when they picked…. Just like my team probably wouldn’t have gotten the guy they coveted but he dropped close enough to make a reasonable trade to get him.

I dont think ESPN randomly decided to push Levis being a first round prospect. That's silly. I mean we still saw sucky Anthony Richardson get drafted. The NFL really is dumb enough to hype of guys with gold medals in the underwear Olympics.

Levis is kinda like Malik Willis. Nobody was expecting Malik to fall to the third last year, but teams were wiser than we thought and the Titans took a flier on him.

I don't know what you watch, my friend! I'm just saying you seem to me to take pleasure in reiterating whatever is contra the Vols and the consensus VNRF take at every available opportunity. You pretty much push a point. And it always seems to take the form of whatever people tell me that the television guys are saying. Or mostly whatever I reasonably deduce is what the television is saying because I hear people repeat it with approximately the same words and sense of assurance.

I don't claim that you don't hate ESPN's shows. I don't know what you watch. I'm just informing you that you are presently, in effect, justifying ESPN's hype train. I don't say that you realize that your story exonerates their takes all year and into last year.

🤔 So people actually gamble on when a player will be taken? Crazy. Then gambling sites make money on media making up nonsense to get people to listen to their lack of knowledge (kinda like me deciding what NFL teams want)? Hilarious. I had no idea.

So for Hooker I'd say potential teams in the 2nd tonight are: Lions at 34, Seahawks at 37, Falcons at 44, Patriots at 46, Commanders at 47, & Tampa Bay at 50.

Tampa Bay I think is the team with the biggest need, but they may hold off and just grab a backup option later in the draft or simply wait until next year's draft to address QB of the future (could be a better QB class next year).

Teams that could go WR and snag Hyatt or Tillman are: Arizona at 33, Colts at 35, Raiders at 38, Panthers at 39, Saints at 40, Titans at 41, Falcons at 44, Lions (3 picks in this round), Steelers (2 picks in this round), Packers (2 picks in this round)

I'm not claiming that ESPN randomly decided anything. I am claiming with evidence that they hyped the guy continually (long before the underwear olympics) (and into the teeth of the evidence) and now are trying to cover up their long time loudly professed view with stories about "surprises." I want to say simply that they were wrong. And I am glad to say it because I was tired of listening to it for two years running.
