2023 NFL Offseason Thread

Even the guys that we think are different...like the Kyries of the world who we think are crazy enough to pass on the money...they never pass on the money. They all end up cashing the $40m+ checks until they aren't there anymore.

Maybe Rodgers will prove me wrong, but he's a competitor and he likes $ and fame and he's got a new lease on life. Maybe if he wins the SB, he retires. Maybe if it goes horribly wrong, he retires. Otherwise, it's almost a certainty that he will keep cashing checks.
We don’t agree with “certainties” on this guy. If last season wasn’t a one-off dip in production, I can see him embracing the stop sign. Legacy/ego thing.

I think the Jets stole Rodgers from Green Bay.

Not sure. Unless Rodgers gets a season-ending injury early in the year, the Jets pretty much gave up their first round pick, second round pick, and next year’s first round pick (65% of snaps pretty much means about 11 out of 17 games). It’s somewhat less significant, but while they swapped this year’s first round picks, the move also puts them behind the Patriots in the draft order now. Regardless, that team still might need more than an offseason’s worth of work.

It was pretty much common knowledge at this point that Rodgers was never going to play for the Packers at this point. The Jets had leverage and could have gotten a much better/more favorable deal for Rodgers.

We can bet avatars that he plays in 2024

Off of work Friday. Got some Corona Premieres and a few limes to usher in the new era of VOLS having multiple 1st rounders each year.

Feels good, man.

All 3 guys on the BS pod today saying this was a big overpay by the Jets. Rodgers was ready to retire and GB doesn't have any other trading partners. The Jets (probably correctly) thought they had the leverage because of that reason and reportedly started the offer at one 2nd rd pick and ended up at a very lightly protected 1st, a 2nd, and a 1st swap. These guys were clowning the Jets for not even giving the impression of a backup plan, when they could have been doing Lamar negotiations or re-signing Mike White...but clearly their only other option was Zach Wilson and Green Bay knew they had them.

Nor did I. I get that he's 39, but it's nowhere near what Denver gave up.

But the thing is we know now that Denver was an overpay. And 6 years age difference is huge. Jets are wondering if they'll get 1-3 years out of Rodgers and Broncos knew Wilson wanted to play another 5+ years. Broncos also got 2 years of Wilson on a cheap contract, which Jets will not get.

Tad overpriced but still. $185M guaranteed is doable. Bet that gets reworked in a couple years

Per NFL Live, the Texans could draft the best defensive player at 2 which would give quarterback needy teams a chance to trade for the 3rd pick from Arisona who wants to draft an offensive lineman to protect Murray.

I saw a picture of Houston taking Jalen Carter at 2 and Hendon Hooker at 12 on the Get Up draft telecast today.
