I'm always fearful of allowing law enforcement to operate beyond their mandate using excessive force. There's a fine line between determining excessive force and justified force. Err on one side and you're on the slippery slope to a police state. Err on the other side and your law enforcement becomes ineffectual and you're headed toward vigilante enforcement and anarchy.

With no other details available, in that video I saw a woman physically resist arrest (tried to bite the officer's arm), which was then met in return with physical, but not lethal, force. Assuming the officer was acting within the scope of their job in arresting this person , then I'd put responsibility on the person being arrested to plead their case in court instead of resisting with force in the field.

Just out of curiosity - do the officers' cameras begin when the it is turned on or is it always running? I'm guessing maybe it was simply edited down and the rest is locked up until they decide to release it?

Glad he's ok. Took that shot like a champ, jesus. And what happened with her exactly? Looks almost like a wreck. Or had she been shot, leading to the wreck? What a tragic awful way to end one's life regardless of what anyone thinks from the short bit of film there was is. Simply nightmarish...screaming she had done nothing wrong and then she does that and it turns out in the worst way possible 😑

And job well done by the officer using the tazer. That should've been the end of it. Still wonder what started all of it though.

Won't make a difference. As soon as public attention turns away, the badged bullies and uniformed state sanctioned thugs will go right back to doing the same thing with impunity as usual

So much to unpack.

1. Again, this isn't about race. It is about our police culture. They lack discretion and common sense
2. So the girl was allegedly hitting and kicking staff. Back in my day, the teachers would have hit back and you had corporal punishment. But today, you remove corporal punishment and introduce these new legal ramifications, schools I suppose feel compelled to just let the police handle it.
3. But, if you call the police, the staff shouldn't have been surprised that the police would act like they normally do. Yes, handcuffs/zip ties are part of that. Yes, physical confrontation and restraint is on the table. Yes, the police using their weapons is on the table. This needs to be understood by anyone calling the police to resolve what appears to be a minor issue such as this.
4. Appears as though the girl is being raised by her grandmother, based on the article. Fatherless homes and misbehaving children. No surprise.
5. So it appears that there is no structure at home, allegedly has health/mental issues and now has this experience thrown in at 6 years old. What kind of issues will this girl have by the time she's 18?
