OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

As expected the Volunteers outplayed a Flyers team that is out of their weight class.
The Flyers don’t have the offensive arsenal to outhit the Volunteers or compete with a Volunteers team that has multiple reliable solid hitters.

I can get short sighted sometimes @firestorm , I reckon yer punching above yer weight!

I’m watching this action scene Sub Zero Vs Liu Kang in the entertaining PG-13 Mortal Kombat movie.

I’ll be uploading multiple photos to my Instagram since I want to resume being active.

Also the movies I need to write reviews for are Paparazzi an entertaining action revenge movie set in Los Angeles with 4 paparazzi photographers as the main antagonists, Horse Sense, Adventures in Babysitting, and Young Guns

I don’t understand how I am punching above my weight.
If I’m at the gym I’m not going to attempt to lift 185 pounds or 180 pounds mainly because I haven’t been trying to lift that heavy weight close to my current body weight which last I saw this week is 185.

Knock it out the park man, got no doubt?

@firestorm , it was meant as a compliment, i apologize if it came off as condescending. I gotta go to go outta town for the rest of the weekend and people are in a bad mood, in general because CTV is suspended and we don’t know what’s gonna happen? I think we’ll be okay, what do you think?

I don’t understand what you meant since I was saying the Flyers really don’t have the needed amount of talented players to compete with a great Volunteers team that can score a variety of ways because they have reliable solid batters.
I’m not offended I just didn’t understand your response because I didn’t say anything about boxing, or physical fighting.

I assume he didn’t do anything awful so him being able to post after a deserved suspension ends is possible or likely.

Time to go to sleep because I need more than 4 hours of sleep so I don’t feel sleepy after I wake up.

Slightly related I will be bringing a Baseball bat when I search for the New Jersey Devil in the Pine Barrens which are the woods area where reportedly the New Jersey Devil lives.

I will be filming the documentary The Search For the New Jersey Devil because I want to obtain visual evidence that the New Jersey Devil a flying cryptozoology animal is real.

Also a male Siberian Husky, a machete, a hunter knife, a double bladed custom made knife, and the same vampire hunter sword Blade uses to kill vampires in the (1998) Blade movie.

Do any NBA teams play defense at all? I haven’t watched since MJ retired.
No, they don’t really try until the stretch run for the playoffs if they want to stay out of the play-in tournament. And then they usually play hard throughout the playoffs of course. The majority of the regular season has essentially become the all-star game. There were a lot of clutch shots being made in this one though. The funny thing is the highest scoring game ever was in 1983. So this is the highest scoring game I have been alive for.

That’s a lot of points 👀

I’m very happy the Sacramento Kings are finally likely return to the NBA Playoffs.

My Bulls bulldozed the Nets In Chicago131-87 , and the Bulls lead by as much as 50 which is embarrassing for a Nets team that is not in the league of Pistons, Rockets, Spurs, and other awful teams that currently are below 20 wins with the regular season more than 60 percent over.

I’m not overreacting to this great win vs a rebuilding Nets team because I know my Bulls are not some powerhouse because their losing record shows factual evidence they are a losing team, while the Bucks and Celtics are both Top Gun teams aka Elite teams with winning records.

On February 25 in Baseball History...
  • 1934 - John McGraw, in ill health since his retirement as Giants manager early in the 1932 season, dies at his home in New Rochelle, New York, at age 60. His last public appearance was the 1933 All-Star Game as N.L. manager.

  • 1957 - The U.S. Supreme Court decides 6-3 that baseball is the only professional sport exempt from antitrust laws. The issue arises when pro football seeks similar protection from the laws.

  • 1969 - A pension plan for baseball is agreed on, with players to receive $5.45M per year. They also get a percentage of television revenues, a reduction in the years necessary to qualify for a pension from five to four (retroactive to 1959), and lowered minimum age for drawing a pension from 50 to 45.

  • 1972 - The Cardinals trade pitcher Steve Carlton to the Phillies for pitcher Rick Wise. Carlton will go on to win 241 games and four Cy Young Awards for the Phillies.

  • 1973 - A new three-year Basic Agreement is reached between players and owners. Among the provisions of the agreement are a $15,000 minimum salary, salary arbitration, and the '10 and five' trade rule, which permits a player with 10 years in the major leagues, the last five of which are with his current team, to veto any trade involving him.

  • 1981 - The Executive Board of the Players' Association votes unanimously to strike on May 29 if the issue of free-agent compensation remains unresolved. That deadline will be extended briefly, however, when the Players Association's unfair labor practices complaint is heard by the National Labor Relations Board.

  • 1987 - In the wake of three drug-related incidents over the past year, La Marr Hoyt is banished from baseball for the 1987 season by Commissioner Peter Ueberroth. On June 16 an arbitrator will reduce Hoyt's suspension to 60 days and order the Padres to reinstate him. But Hoyt would never pitch in another major league game.
