Kellie Harper discussion/debate thread [merged]

We’re going to have to dominate the portal to have any chance of being good next year. We are losing a ton of talent and experience and thus far have literally nothing coming to replace it.

Losing:
Franklin
Walker
Horston
Jackson?
Key??

I put ? because there is at least some chance that Jordan might use her covid year and take NIL $ to remain a LV. I think that is a low probability but a higher probability for Key, who could play herself into a number one slot.

So, our line-up could be a healthy Key rotating with Hollingshead and an improved Justine stepping in as a primary scorer, with a hopefully improved Tess and Sara. If Kellie could sign a quality PG (who can shoot) in the portal, with Powell as back-up, that line-up could be competitive. Finding one more good scoring option would be very helpful. Even if Key opts out, Hollingshead is looking more and more like a player who can be force in the post.

Why rotate? Jill can easily play 4 while Key protects the rim. We were talking about this earlier in another thread. Key and Jill together would make each other much better. Strip would be an awesome back up for both.
Justine stepping in as a primary scorer,
And here's where it gets scary. That's alot to ask, would probably need another year to get there. We are desperately in need of quick perimeter players and sure scorer.

“ Others receiving votes:
Illinois 30, North Carolina State 30, Middle Tennessee 23, South Florida 19, Oklahoma State 17, Creighton 17, Louisville 11, Rhode Island 6, Florida Gulf Coast 6, Marquette 5, Cleveland State 2, South Dakota State 1, Tennessee 1”

Hey, a couple of wins and they'll move past Cleveland State.... maybe even catch up to Rhode Island.

Yes, that could work. The caveat is Jillian being able to consistently hit the mid range. Her shot has been looking pretty good of late.

Per Justine, I betting she makes the Rae Burrell leap where she went from averaging 3 pts a game to 10.5 with a big improvement in shooting %. Okay, I am betting a Rae Burrell ++ jump.

I am reading these posts laughing out loud. So many purely negative assumptions about everything from A to Z. No one here knows which people are declaring for the WNBA, whether Key is staying, and no one knows what players we may get in the portal. So much negativity and assumptions. Most importantly, no one knows how we end this season. Now, those are facts.

The "facts" are the head coach has an unimpressive track record of postseason success never advancing past the Sweet 16 in almost two decades of coaching, this team/season with high expectations has been a huge disappointment by any metric, and there is currently no help coming for next season... to a roster that will very likely have heavy attrition.

ha nah been on them for a long time. i just haven't lost my common sense. not sure how i have avoided it! : )

Really? From my perspective, "common sense" is looking at the available "facts" to make predictions about likely future outcomes. But you do you. Maybe Tennessee will win the title this season. Maybe I'll win the lottery tomorrow. You never know do you...?
