President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

The US tried that in 1953... the blowback from that a quarter century later gave us the Ayatollah.

Be careful what you wish for...

Honest revolution can only come from within and not from without. It takes people who have suffered under the past to change to something better, but in most cases even that goes wrong. We as a country had a revolution and came out strong and prosperous probably because we were a nation of individuals not members of a tribe or a domineering religion. One place that you and I actually agree is that we have a poor track record of helping with revolutions and putting new players in place; the communists probably did a bit better with their global revolutions because communism requires a totalitarian at the top. Change initiated from without is likely doomed from the start.

We're wasting our time dabbling in Islamic countries; we'd have been better to simply pound them back to the Stone Age and let them put some pieces together ... probably a rinse and repeat cycle because you know as long as religious nuts (of any brand) run things, it's going to be screwed up.

Obama was the biggest gun salesman and Biden is doing more to bring the world together. Obama should give his Nobel Peace Prize to Biden if this keeps up.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut on occasion. Mr. Magoos for all their blundering are usually safer to have around than a dedicated terrorist; and face it, Obama's agenda was to tear down what we were as a country.

No we wouldn't. Well let me back up... what have any of these ME countries outside of KSA done to deserve to be bombed into the Stone Age?

What exactly sets Saudi Arabia apart except being bigger with more oil and, therefore, with more income and more influence?

Do you think we'd have problems with Islamic countries in general if we didn't, to put it very mildly, involve ourselves in their affairs?

Who knows for sure. If not for their oil, we probably wouldn't even care much about Islamic countries if their people stayed home and didn't try to bring Islam with them, and we likely wouldn't pay them much attention if they kept their terrorists at home and away from us and others - particularly allies. Of course they do have oil - lots of it, so that tends to change things a bit; I suppose it's a matter of opinion as to whether that is considered involving ourselves in their affairs. Two big factors that influence buying oil from Islamic countries - OPEC, and Islamic countries were founding members - cartels are just a nice name for international price gougers. They also tend to get uppity and cut off oil when they don't like something going on in the world. The other is that Islamic countries go to war with each other and disrupt oil supply.

Overall, nations ruled by a religion can be difficult to live with, and I've noticed that one of the major sources of unrest around the globe has been rooted in religion. Religion is essentially a good thing; but like most good things when taken to extremes, it shows a very ugly side. It's always seemed ironic to fight in the name of a peaceful god or a religion. You might say religious zealotry is a killer. Personally I don't care much either way about Islam itself, but I am offended by their treatment of women as second class subjects and their inability to be self moderating (Ca va Charlie? Toujours mort). And, of course, there's that mostly peaceful bunch of raving lunatics in Iran who feel the need for nuclear weapons.

The U.S. Consumer Is Starting to Freak Out

"Mikhail Andersson, owner of First Class Tattoo in New York City, has seen signs of weakening demand. After it was cleared to reopen from lockdowns in the summer of 2020, his business was slammed by customers flush with unemployment insurance payments and stimulus checks."

Heaven forbid they use the free cash for food,rent,bills,etc...

Within the last six months in Hixson, Tn. we have lost Steak and Shake, CiCi's ,Bojangles and Hardee's. Both Bed Bath and Beyond and Best Buy will have shut their doors in the next couple of weeks, but the Economy is great!!!! Right, @evillawyer.

We did have a Miller's Ale house open though.

Bad economies typically cause an increase in alcohol consumption. Kudos to the Millers for getting ahead of the game.

Sometimes these Republican-led areas struggle economically.

The U.S. Consumer Is Starting to Freak Out

The engine of the U.S. economy—consumer spending—is starting to sputter.
Retail purchases have fallen in three of the past four months. Spending on services, including rent, haircuts and the bulk of bills, was flat in December, after adjusting for inflation, the worst monthly reading in nearly a year. Sales of existing homes in the U.S. fell last year to their lowest level since 2014 as mortgage rates rose. The auto industry posted its worst sales year in more than a decade.

Had my 1st eviction in a long time on Saturday. I think theirs was more poor mgmt rather than an income problem.
Construction projects are still going strong and starting in southern mid tn.

You mean the store that sells the same stuff as Amazon, but for 25% more. Shocker it's closing.

I have been in that store a few times. It seems like they have a bunch of stuff but nothing worth purchasing. I don't need an electric toothbrush for $160.00
