It's nuts that Ballysports just bought the RSNs 3 years ago and the business model completely fell apart that fast. For once, I'm glad the Braves have a crappy TV deal. Maybe they won't feel it as much when Diamond Sports goes Chapter 11 and start restructuring rights fees. Those couple hundred K not doing anything. What’s sinking live sports is the fees from the networks to the leagues which ultimately trickles down to the INSANE player salaries.
It was such a weird fit from the beginning, IMO. Sinclair is in a dying industry (local TV news). I don't know anything about the other entity that is part of the joint venture (Entertainment Studios). Was the Bally sponsorship of the network alone supposed to make this a profitable venture? It's nuts that Ballysports just bought the RSNs 3 years ago and the business model completely fell apart that fast. Just read where they owe teams $2 billion, but have less than $600 million cash. What a disaster.
