Slaughter is the ONLY DB we had that made a play where he turned his head and made a play on the ball and looked like a well coached DB. The others were just running towards the WR with their hands up like they had no idea what they were doing. We absolutely must get better in the secondary.

I agree! If they weren't getting PI calls on them they were not even trying to turn around and find the ball. That's bad coaching..

The PI calls came as a result of the Cbs getting beat off the LOS. Clemson WRs consistently were 2-3 yds past the DBs in man coverage when the ball was thrown but the balls were under thrown. DBs running like hell to catch up aren’t able to turn their head.

Portal help should start with replacing Martinez.

Most all the complaints about the secondary point back to p*$$ poor technique.

They don't use their hands well off the LOS, their footwork is sloppy in the backpedal, they don't locate the ball in the air, and they don't wrap up when they tackle.

I think an infusion of some talent will help and getting a couple of CBs could let some other guys move back to safety, mainly Slaughter. Think he is plenty physical enough for the position.

Just my two cents worth.
