That's the whole thing. People with a clue know that you can't sign everybody. But if they had just kept their mouth shut about payroll, we'd all be saying "This is disappointing, but hey, at least they've got the 6th highest payroll and spending up to the Luxury Tax". It's not that destitute...but yeah.

It's kind of like when you play a golf course that is pretty nice and then you play it again months later and it's not quite as good because they aren't spending money on it and you realize it's because you're in a real estate development that happens to have a golf course. The Battery is great, but in some ways Atlanta Braves subsidiary of Liberty Media has become a real estate and licensing company that happens to have a baseball team.
