I've got the electric blanket on at a low temp just to keep the bed warm. If the power goes off and it gets cold, the bed will be warm and quilts will keep it that way. We always called bad weather and power outages "family weather" because keeping warm in bed can lead to bigger families.

Instead of having back accounts, people will need to buy a nice big safe for their house to keep cash in and live on a cash only basis....until they get rid of cash making it all digital.

My wife was making a big push to a tankless hot water heater - we have a regular tank type now. Once I saw that the tankless ones require electric power to operate, that change was absolutely dead in the water. I like my heat pump, but if I found a gas central heating system that ran the blowers etc without having to have the electric power on, I just might go back to gas. And with the gas stove, we can at least cook when the power is out. Funny how gas is generally more reliable, but dems are pushing to shut down NG in homes and apartments. We really need to quit generating electric power with NG so that the two can be competitors again and keep energy prices in line.

I have a Three Dog Night vinyl album buried deep in one of my closets that I got back in the late 60s/early 70s. I wish I had a record player so I could put it on and listen to the scratches.

In our new house the tankless will have a plug and I’ll have a “mower” battery with a power inverter…. The plumber suggested

We've had temperatures and wind storms like this nearly every winter that I can remember. Including a 2+ foot snowstorm. Never had power outages like this. Never seen rolling blackouts like in Tennessee right now.
