I wonder if AA might try to trade for Brandon Crawford from the Giants to fill the shortstop void if Swanson does not resign.

I would trade Anderson or Elder for Crawford.

I would not pick up Crawford. But we all know AA has a history of 1 year deals for people on the wrong side of 30. Crawford is a hard pass for me.

I just believe there are more important places that money can go than a kid playing a game.

It's not just him, it's athletes in general. They're severely overpaid for what they do. There are way more important things that money can be spent on.

Relative to the amount of money the sport brings in, they aren't overpaid. At all. And in the case of NIL, none of that money even comes out of the revenue that the schools, conferences, or NCAA generate.

If you have a broader philosophical point that as a society we shouldn't be spending this much money on sports, or sports shouldn't be as important to people as they are, then perhaps I might agree. If that is considered to be a "problem," then I'm certainly a part of it. That doesn't change the fact that the sport brings in the large amount of money that it does, and broadly speaking these guys are paid in line with that.
