These guys all knew they were trading FA years for getting paid sooner. In RAJ's case, I'm not even sure the deal is lopsided yet given all the games that he's missed. It’s funny, dudes are on such friendly team deals that it almost handcuffs us from signing someone to a (stupid) massive deal like Correa’s.
Sooner and guaranteed. These guys all knew they were trading FA years for getting paid sooner. In RAJ's case, I'm not even sure the deal is lopsided yet given all the games that he's missed.
Exactly… people act like the Braves are fleecing a bunch of stupid kids. Meanwhile, instead of following the MLB model of making them play for peanuts, they’re making these guys rich before they even get arbitration eligible.Sooner and guaranteed.
No one mentions that when talking about the Braves extensions for some reason. HUGE difference in being under team control and being a free agent.
Yep. It's like fans forget that career trajectories like Cody Bellinger's exist.Exactly… people act like the Braves are fleecing a bunch of stupid kids. Cody B just signed for 17.5MYep. It's like fans forget that career trajectories like Cody Bellinger's exist.
If they signed Bellinger to an Acuna-like deal after 2017 or 2018, everybody would have talked about how LA fleeced him. But as it turns out he would have fleeced LA.
Yeah, but for one year, and he's 27 now. He in theory could have gotten an RAJ-like deal after his rookie season or second season, and everybody would have said he got fleeced. He wouldn't have been fleeced.Cody B just signed for 17.5M
That’s more than Ronald will make in any season under his current contract.
