Just when you find yourself agreeing with Wes…

Well I’d assume most would agree recruiting at the upper level is tremendously important. I thought Heupel should get it as well so it was good to see it happen. 24’ to me is when I think the expectations will be heightened to the same level as what most other big time coaches are with their programs.

I tossed mine while cleaning out my parents' garage after my dad died. It had been out there for probably 20 years and looked rough as hell. I doubt it worked but I do kinda regret tossing it.

My brother and I tossed (burned) a lot of our old toys when mom died. Started out just burning some old stuff from the storage barn - turned into a cathartic bonfire. We regret some of the things we burned, but we both also still laugh about that fire.

I would agree with you if it stayed at 4 teams for the playoffs instead of going to the top 12…. It would be the most Tennessee thing ever if we stop playing Bama just as we get a great administration and coaching staff just as Alabama starts their decline… Saban will retire shortly and it will be very difficult for them to stay at this level. I don’t want to miss the next “Mike Shula” type of years.
If Heupel is able to go 50% against Bama...which is a huuuuge ask until Bama stops piling up 5* two deep no matter who is their coach...that is still gonna put us behind the 8 ball every other f'n year...now throw UGA in there(and it doesn't look like we are even close to narrowing that gap, so asking a 50% win percentage against them is even more daunting..and you start to see the big picture. It is in our best interests to let somebody else shoulder that stupid burden more often.

The thing is, we will still have to go through one or both of them in the rotating season schedules to get to the playoffs, and then in the playoffs we will have to go through one or both of them if we ever intend on winning a NC, so it's not like we will never play them.

I don't see how this is hard to comprehend. Playing one of the toughest schedules this year did nothing for us except provide one land mine too many.

TCU and OSU neither one would have a better record than us if they had to play our schedule...and they are playing for a title while we are playing for an Orange Bowl trophy.

To all the FF'ers that have come over here and have realized that 70% of the posting goes on in this thread...and there is no need to start a new thread, for every thought you have...welcome.

Thank you for taking the time to understand how this forum works. Obviously not everyone has.

How will you know whether or not to be angry? I don't think you're clearly seeing the flaws in your system.

Lol. I’d frame my approach this way: I know the next 25 years of Vol football is contingent upon how we perform in the portal over the next two weeks. I’m too scared to watch. It’s better for my nerves to just see the final score and read up on how it all went down.

I agree that I wish everything was done in a uniform way but the probably with that is that each conference makes it’s own rules. I have always had a problem with teams losing their conference championship and then winning a national championship a few weeks later…. If you want a bye then win your conference championship….you are lucky that you get a second chance at possible earning your way back to a national championship… it should be challenging, imo.

For years…. We are complaints about all the Blue Bloods getting all the benefits… just this year… people are complaining about Alabama being ranked ahead of us… I have no issue with allowing other teams a seat at the table and will probably good for parity and entertainment… I’m tired of watching the same teams over and over again….Give me a Cinderella team to cheer for(if it is not the Vols) it’s not the rest of college footballs fault that we are trying to make an idiotically tough conference to win.
🤦‍♂️ I almost 100% disagree with this.
