All this talk of Ohio State wanting the Orange Bowl but I don’t see anyone talking about us to the Rose Bowl. If OSU doesn’t care about the tradition of that matchup then why not?
The Rose Bowl is PAC 12 vs Big 10, by contract.

The Orange Bowl is Big 10/SEC/Notre Dame vs ACC, by contract.

We can't go to the Rose Bowl (unless it's a year when they host a CFP game and we're in the CFP.)

The present tie in system sucks for the sec and most in general. The opponent for the sugar bowl is set and limited with only the big 12 to chose from while the Orange gets to choose acc champ opponent from a variety of conferences and Notre Dame. And the cotton tied it’s hand to a non power 5 champ playing the highest ranked team available. They should do away with tie ins. They should alternate among NY6 bowls and let the bowls pick who they want. If the Rose bowl doesn’t want to play just exclude the 2 rose bowl teams from the selection of NY6. If we ever want to see the best bowl matchups outside the playoffs that is how it happens in my opinion. You could have some great matchups if teams weren’t so regulated where they had to go.GBO

It's outdated, like me, and I agree it should go away, also probably like me.

With the expanded playoffs the NY6 bowls are going to lose the power to choose, I think. There was a time when the tie ins made sense, at least a little sense, for regional interest but this is not 1970.

USC can’t play in the Orange Bowl. If USC loses to Utah, USC drops to the Cotton Bowl and the Vols are out in the cold unless the committee slots Alabama behind Tennessee.

Really, any of the top four teams losing likely relegates Tennessee to the Citrus Bowl unless the losing team falls to #7.
No if USC loses, Ohio State is in the playoff, Alabama is in the Sugar and we are in the Orange.

I thought all that changed with the playoff.

Edit: Seems not per your article. Yeah those tie ins make no sense anymore. Tradition is out the window anyway so let’s just get the best games possible as that’s the only thing that will draw people in to the non-playoff bowls.

Also, Utah's best shot at the Rose Bowl is to beat USC and go as PAC 12 champion. If USC wins the Rose Bowl would probably take 10-2 Washington over 9-4 Utah or 9-3 Oregon State, UCLA or Oregon. Utah winning tonight is the only way you might have an OSU v. Utah rematch.

You are correct, when the bowl system expands the New Years 6 games outside the playoffs are going to have even less to chose from. Tie ins are outrageously stupid now they will be retarded at that point. I don’t know why they continue to tie hands with tied up tie ins instead of getting the best matchups possible.

Soooo we want USE to lose to the Utes tonight? And what else do we want? I want Bama and UGA to both lose. I want OSU and Michigan to always lose to whoever. I do not like Clemson and would love to beat them big.
Sounds like the Orange Bowl vs Clemson would be our best draw...correct? What has to happen to get us into the Sugar Bowl playing someone in the top ten?

Gonna watch this one for a little while. Probably be a good game.

Edit: My gut says USC wins, but I am pulling for Utah. I always pull for the underdog.

Kirby smart will have a plan to embarrass Williams. He gets away throwing off wrong foot leaving ground throwing down field. Georgias defense will squash him and Lincoln Rileys offense.

Utah is a good team, well coached, and physical. USC is all that plus has speed all over the field especially on defense. Men of Troy win this one.

Just curious why it is when a basketball player is bleeding he has to come out of the game until it’s stopped but when a football player is bleeding like the qb of USC no one cares?
