Look, I’m not criticizing because I truly do appreciate you. But if you post something that doesn’t get liked by drvenner, you should probably check your priorities. It’s like the ADA approval on toothpaste, it’s so automatic it makes you wonder what happened on the one where the ADA was like “nah, this is just mint flavored cake icing.”

So apparently he told the police it wasn't illegal because he found it online. Also he was turned in by an organization that's anti-child porn which tells me he was probably on a server that they monitor which says a lot because they really don't have the resources to monitor everywhere - those groups target servers, channels, and sites that they have reason to believe people will say or do things on. IOW, coded sites and servers and that newbies slip up and do things openly on but the real pros just use to make contacts.

Put it another way, these groups aren't monitoring any of my Discord channels because they know it would be a complete waste of their time and resources. There's no content that would ever suggest to anyone that they could get porn let alone child porn on those channels and their time and resources are finite. However, they know which channels to get on to get people involved in child exploitation just like I know which ESO discords to join for various trades and trial runs. That makes the likelihood of this being an accident really low.

He was very likely on a server that you'd be embarrassed to accidentally join and would leave as soon as you looked around because it gave you the creeps.
