Then what is the motivation for the defense to get back? If they slow down the rest of the defense can catch up or the offense is offside if they don't slow down too?

They actually do a variation of this. Most of the time it’s when the defense is playing a high line closer to midfield when their team has the ball and the defenders will step up in front of an offensive player if the opposing team gets control of the ball and they can see a long ball about to be played. Earlier in the tournament a Germany defender did this but his counterpart fell asleep and didn’t and the other team had a clear break on goal but messed it up. It’s hard to time and can be risky but teams still do it occasionally.

US defender had a hand on Iranian players shoulder in the box and tried to sell it like he was pulled, but anyone with eyes saw that he wasn’t pulled. His best Lebron James flop didn’t work.

Is it just me or does it feel like Swain really doesn’t like Josh Ward, or maybe just regrets leaving a setup where he was his own boss for the corporate radio world again? He takes a lot of shots at Josh, but they don’t sound light hearted like they did with Ben on his own show. Idk.

It's not just you. Swain is a dickhead. I'm not a big fan of him. He mumbles, repeats himself and isn't very insightful imo.
