Yeah honestly doubt we'd use a scholarship on a portal QB.

Usually only worth doing if you need a starter or quality backup (and with who we have returning we won't need either).

Milton's job next year until it ain't. Tayven probably isn't going anywhere since he got injured and will likely start the season as QB2.

Gaston Moore & Navy Shuler are both RS-Sophomores and each has transferred once already. I think both are content to be backups and learn as much as they can while here either they are looking to roll into opportunities as staffers or coaches or they may grad transfer and play a year or two at a lower tier program to end their careers but I think both return next year.

Nico is coming in too. So we'll have a minimum of 4 QBs on scholarship already taking a portal guy this year won't benefit us and that spot could be more valuable for a pass rusher, ILB, or secondary player you feel can contribute next season.

I think you have to take a transfer QB if you get the chance. I like Joe and I applaud him for sticking it out and being a great teammate, but he’s shown nothing to this point to prove he’s the guy. How likely is it he improves enough going into next year? There’s no guarantee.

And Nico, while uber talented, will still be just a freshman. However, he is going to get some bowl practice in so he may be way ahead than most.

And let’s say Nico jumps Tayven Jackson in spring ball. You think Tayven is hanging around at that point? Doubtful. Then you’d only have two scholarship QBs. I’d take a transfer.

Somehting I thought of over the weekend…..the hypocracy towards UT is unreal.

1. The USC has an expletive written on his fingers for four hours while our center fielder flips off for four seconds. The entire sports world came down on Beck and the baseball Vols.

2. UT debris incident vs Ole Miss last year vs Ole Miss debris throwing during the Egg Bowl. Again, the press blows up with us and not so much with OM. It will be interesting to see how the SEC deals with this.

3. The Schiano scenario vs (from what I have heard) similar scenario with GA Tech in their coaching search. We get hammered while nothing regarding GT.

Why?
I was working on a job up north one time in the early 90's and told a guy I was flying back home and he asked did we have airports down here. That should show you what many use to and still do think of us. I told him the plane just flies low and slows down and we just jump out.....some people.

I think he could be a player with maturation. Gives me that Colquitt vibe.

Well that guy is the idiot that is what he thinks we are.

I hope someone at Tennessee gets out of the season with a major national award. We have coaches and players that are very deserving, but I feel like too many are simply "Top 5" candidates with no clear outright winners. Golesh and Hyatt deserve awards, and Hooker as well. Heupel needs strong coach of the year consideration.
What award to they give out for the most insufferable fanbase? We have definitely earned that.

Those are solid points but we would probably look at a transfer in the spring then. I doubt we take one in the next month. Especially with bigger needs. Taking a QB perspective makes sense though.

I'm kind of worried about the RB room...

Jabari Small, Jaylen Wright, Dylan Sampson = believe all 3 are happy and return, but 2 of them have missed lots of time in the past with injuries

Len'Neith Whitehead seems to spend more time hurt than practicing, do we potentially move on from him or will he make the decision himself being so deep on the depth chart?

Justin Williams-Thomas I think we stopped seeing him because the staff wanted to RS this season (he was missing in the twitter pick of the RBs with Mack so didn't travel to Vandy) has me worried, he may want to take his chances somewhere else or in a more RB1 less RBBC system.

We went to the portal once for a RB to start this season, no one in our '23 class at RB that really seems to be SEC caliber either.

No. That was McKenzie Milton. Gabriel got hurt the next season under Malzahn.
Maybe it was Milton I saw then, who ever it was they were good. I can't even keep up with who we have anymore.....a little slow on the uptake.

Moore and Shuler are non-scholarship.
