Transfer portal discussion

I wouldn’t grab just any WR but Lovett is really good. He could come in and play while others are developed. I would not take anyone other WRs after that.
We need to develop the really good players we have recruited to let the players we are recruiting know they will get their chance to be lay rather than sit on the bench while we bring in experienced players to play ahead of them. If we don’t have good players a a certain position, then we should try to fill the void

Taylor Zarzour just strongly hinted to watch out for a coaching change for a SEC team not now being discussed..

Any guesses as to who which team?

OU going to fire Venables already? I kid, I kid.

Real guess would be either Beamer to Auburn (resulting in a change at USC-East) or maybe Pittman out at Arky.

Bama…it’s why Lane backed out of Auburn. Bama called and told him Saban is retiring.

Please let Beamer to Auburn happen!! They would continue following the same trajectory as we went through. He would be similar to Butch…a hype man.

That would be absolutely hilarious. SC would go from questioning themselves about Beamer being on the hot seat, to him being their savior, to losing him to an in conference school. It would be the ultimate roller coaster of emotions.

On the flip side, AU would get an overrated coach that is more like Butch Jones than Nick Saban, and they would complete their transformation into UT of the 2010’s.

There will be better options. Hold.
Yeah and they probably already know where they’re going (I.e. Jordan Addison). Barring any off field stuff, we should definitely take a slot WR, which we need, that was 3rd in the best conference in receiving yards in his first year as a starter and has multiple years of eligibility left

Don’t count Stoops out of the U-Haul sweepstakes just yet. He thinks very highly of himself, and I think it’s likely he knows what the built-in ceiling at Kentucky is. I would not be surprised to see him take a surprise bolt from Lexington if the right team reaches out. I thought Nebraska might be a real chance…but they were too smart for that move.

Any news on any of our guys leaving? Most think Jimmy Calloway is a sure bet.

Hubbs said they’re re-recruiting Pearce. Not sure why he would leave, though.
"Tennessee has been engaged with him for sure. He's worked every day on the practice field, but in the day and age we live in you just never know. There's always recruiting going on. I'm sure he's been indirectly hearing from people all fall long. I know Garner is having meetings with his players early this week and players are also meeting with the head coach."

there will be transfers always from every team in this day and age of Portal. In CHRIST Alone

No doubt. Hoping to keep everyone who will be big contributors next year. Also trying to figure out what portal guys/positions we should go after.

Portal needs by position. Let me know what yall think. This is assuming only Calloway and Campbell portals out and Hyatt enters the draft.

QB - we good here

RB - only if he is a gamechanger (i.e. Gibbs). With 4 guys coming back plus Keith (and Seldon) coming in not sure how many big time guys take a look at us.

WR - (1) a lot of you guys changed my mind here. I thought we would take a WR but I thought we would take an outside guy. With Hyatt and Calloway gone, we definitely need another slot WR.

TE - (2) Campbell is gone and Warren is iffy at best at returning. We have Ethan Davis coming in but coming off an injury we can't expect him to contribute much next year.

OL - (1) we will definitely take a quality tackle who hopeful can lock down the RT spot. Fallback plan would be having Mincey/Crawford start at both tackle. With all the guard body linemen on the roster someone should step up and replace Carvin at LG. My guess would be Ollie Lane. We probably need to recruit a true center in the 2024 class. Cooper only has two year left.

DL - don't see us taking one unless he is a stud. Everybody back from the DL.

Edge - could see us taking a run at someone but would have to be a very good player, not just a guy. We only lose BY but will be very young next year. Personally Iike our young guys and should roll with them.

LB - (1) I think we would prefer more experience behind Mitchell and Beasley. Allow our young guys to continue to develop. One of them will have to play and rotate in though.

CB - (1) I really like our incoming cornerback class and all 3 are EEs. We probably want to take at least one CB for obvious reasons but I would also move Slaughter back to safety (and start him and Walker). I would also move Charles back to safety, think he is better there. Which would leave us with Burrell, Hadden, Rucker and Turnage returning. I would still give those 3 guys every opportunity to play next year. I'm lumping star here and we should run with T-Mac and Tank here imo. Turnage could be an option at star as well.

S - I think we would be good here. With Walker and Slaughter starting you have two guys who are more instinctive and faster at safety as well as better tacklers. Turrentine, Charles, and 3 young safeties for depth.

PK/Punter - (1) from the looks of it we don't have any trust in our kickers on the roster. I think we will be fine at punter.

So 7 transfers would be the goal.

What yall think?
