College Football Stats - College FB Team Opponent Points per Game | TeamRankings.com

We finished top 40 overall….. top 5 in the SEC….. top 26 in power 5 teams in points per game allowed….. Amazing job by our defense facing as many possessions/plays that they faced during the season. On a funny side note…. The big ten had 6 teams in the top 11 so you know that they have zero offense in that conference.
That freaking SC game🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

It will always stick in my craw...just because it was so avoidable. I get that we were ambushed by them completely changing their playbook...but still..🤦‍♂️🤬

Auburn screwed this up. Kiffin news leaks early on Tuesday and he gets cold feet.

Auburn folks, fans and some leaders, protest hiring Freeze forcing them to back off.

This isn’t as bad as Tennessee’s 2017 search, but the ineptitude is similar.
Who is Chad hasson? Is that just se random guy on Twitter?

This is your bias kicking in. My friends who are fans of other teams have been calling us pretenders all season. Saying things like we were lucky against bama, squeaked by bad Pitt and FL, ect. Then we get smoked by USC. It justifies what they have been saying all year. You can't lose to usc the way we did without consequences.

I hate bama and I certainly don't think they should get in the playoffs, but their resume is they lost 2 very close games on the road in very hostile environments. They have arguably the best QB in the country, and talent all over their roster. They may not have beat a lot of great teams this year, but they can only play who is on their schedule
We have the #1 offense and a top 40 defense in all of CFB....your "friends" are f'n idiots.

Something about your posts reminds me of somebody else that "claimed" to be a Vol but spent every day pissing on everything Vol.

No, this is YOUR bias kicking in because you've abandoned logic. We beat Bama. It doesn't matter how close the game was. We won. They lost. And you failed to mention that all world talent Bama team should have had a third loss but were rescued by bad officiating in that Texas game.
And barely barely barely squeaked by A&M

Difference being, Freeze can actually coach. We were trying to hire someone who most on this message board knew would be nothing more than an 8-4 coach at best (and the media said we should accept that with open arms). It got ugly for TN, we got annihilated by national media, but our fan base likely saved this program. Had we made the hire in 2017, we would likely be looking for another coach right about now with a lame duck AD leading the charge. As bad as Pruitt was for us, it let us clean house from top down and start over. If the 2017 botched hiring doesn’t occur, we hire Schiano. He likely gets 4-5 years to get the job done. We go 7-5 at best at year 4 or 5 with average recruiting classes, and the repeating coaching cycle we had been in for almost two decades continues. Meanwhile, we move even further from college football relevancy.

All that to say, what the media painted as our darkest hour in 2017 was, in fact, the greatest vol nation movement in my lifetime. It was the moment where we said enough is enough. We still ended up with Pruitt, but the table began to turn against the incompetence of UT administration.

Dumb. We pretended our way to 10-2 with one of the toughest schedules.

Your friends are idiots and you shouldn’t be friends with them.
You say "friends" as if you believe it is really his "friends" saying it.

Everybody f'n hates us and nobody wants us back, so I don't give a runny 💩 what ANY of them say. The ONLY thing fluky about our season was SC changing their whole playbook and ambushing our defense on the road without our heart and soul LB playing...and their suckass QB playing perfect football for the first and last time in his life....that was as fluky as fluky gets.

You guys have some anecdotal stories. How are we pretenders when we beat 6 bowl teams? That’s dumb.

Everyone has a bias. But beating a team on the field matters- it just does. Bama barely beat Texas and OM- why isn’t that a strike against them? Because it’s Bama.
Why and how does everybody forget the Bama-A&M game?

And Texas, both of those could have easily been losses. They only put up 35 on Austin Peay (no offense @peaygolf ). We put up 56 on Vandy. I am well aware that I wear orange glasses... but I'd argue that our SC loss was an anomaly, and Bama has consistently shown an inability to put teams away thus the close scores. How could that possibly justify them being ranked above us?

Also...Bama played A&M without their starting all-world QB and almost lost without some timely and predictable help from the zebras 24-20 with A&M missing from inside the 5 yard line at the end...while on the other hand we played Vandy without our all-world QB and beat the ever living 💩 out of them 56-0...

We didn't run Joe even once. If this game had been an opener, I'd have sworn we were protecting the playbook. We were just that vanilla. I think we practiced for a full playbook game but once it was clear that we could score by keeping Joe in protect the ball backup mode, we stayed there. They'll do more in a bowl but folks are forgetting we also didn't have our primary WRs this game. Even Hyatt was only in long enough to grab a cup of coffee.
We have no back up QB….. we didn’t run him bc we didn’t want him injured.

Gladly praying. Need some for my stepdad, who has a tumor in his brain now after fighting cancer in his lung and cirrhosis earlier this year. My sister had a breakdown last Friday and was released just yesterday after my brother-in-law was dusted up in some dispute with a student in his school. Rains and pours. Stay strong.
How is she doing? You tell her a woman in Middle Tennessee is praying for her along with a few hundred of your friends!
