Ohio state would go to 3 if TCU and USC were both to lose right? Bama would go to 4 imo and depending on how much stock their putting in head to head we still have a shot. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking, but TCU is out with even with just one loss. They put stock in eye test as well. A bad TCU loss and USC loss, we’re right back in the Conversation.

The 63 SC put on our heads is what would keep Bama ahead of us Even with the head to head advantage. I could be way off here lol. But I think the top 7 will be the same as the AP.
A one loss TCU should be in over a two loss Bama all day every day.

How in the heck is Texas going to get in the Sugar?...they absolutely suck.

Sugar has to take highest rated Big 12 team not in the playoff but after looking, I’m not so sure Texas can get ahead of Kansas State even with a loss to TCU next week. Not so sure about that prediction.

USC is a much different team now than then. They finally decided to let rattler sling the ball 40 plus times. They were a running team before us and Clemson. They probably figured what do we have to lose and it worked well for them. They should have done it all year.
Rattler will kill them as soon as defenses throw out the film from before our game.
Dude is a 4 int, 2 pick 6 disaster waiting to happen, he almost caused them to lose yesterday despite his big numbers....that is the reason they were a running team before MLs season ended.

You are right...they had nothing to lose...but next year everybody will be ready for them.

I think we protected Milton tonight. I don't think this game was an accurate reflection of the offense under him. With Hooker and Jackson both out, we limited play-calling to minimize the potential of injury. Heupel doesn't want to go to a bowl game with Gaston Moore and Navy Shuler as his QBs.

We didn't run Joe even once. If this game had been an opener, I'd have sworn we were protecting the playbook. We were just that vanilla. I think we practiced for a full playbook game but once it was clear that we could score by keeping Joe in protect the ball backup mode, we stayed there. They'll do more in a bowl but folks are forgetting we also didn't have our primary WRs this game. Even Hyatt was only in long enough to grab a cup of coffee.

It

No, it’s literally not something that is taken into account. It is based off of resume, SOS, W/L, and other factors. Not personal opinion by what you believe. We would beat TCU. Doesn’t mean we deserve to be in the playoff.
Exactly. It's all about the resume, not who you suspect would beat whom. Tons of teams would have beaten Cincinnati last year, but their performance on the field was a top 4 body of work.

All true except team A has 2 close close losses...

Team B has 2 non-competitive losses

At the end of the day - all else being equal - jmo but the committee should take the team that has at least shown up all 12 games and will more likely show up in the playoffs vs uga. They've lost hope UT can make a 1v4 uga matchup competitive, for good reason, and now without Hooker.

Jmo but the USCjr loss HAD to be single digits if we wanted to have any sort of an argument. Clemson win or not, that loss looked AWFUL on the national scale...because of the margin. 4 quarters of 25% decent defense and we're in the playoffs. Oh well...about 5 other teams could/will end up saying similar. Absurdly great great season nonetheless.
But all else is not equal...you left out what should always be the first tie-breaker between teams with equal losses...head to head.

If we would have lost on a last second dg or something it would be different. But that's not what happened. We were dominated from the beginning. We briefly made a game of it and then they smoked us.

There is no way to excuse that loss. It's why we have no chance of jumping above the 7ish are no matter what happens to the teams above

You can't poop the bed and then act like it never happened.
Sure you can...Bama obliterated UGA in the SEC championship game last year....who now gives a 💩 about that?

To be fair, fans criticizing the defense are thinking mainly of the SCar game, and the defense deserves every ounce of criticism for that game. And as the leader of the defense, Tim Banks deserves criticism for that game. We've been up and down on defense all year. No real consistency. That should be scrutinized IMO.
Gonna have to disagree with you here.
The SC game was just the cherry on top.
There’s been plenty of games to think about with the pass defense

You know which game I did not post a dire warning of possible impending doom?..yep it was South Carolina 🤦‍♂️

I will never make that mistake again..so..🤷‍♂️

Oh thank goodness.
I thought that I held up to all of my insane superstitions but was doubting myself.
Now that I know that our loss was obviously totally on McGill, what a load off.

After LSU lost to TAMU, they should do the honorable thing and bow out of the SEC CG. If people want to white knight for Bama, make Bama play Georgia next weekend.
It's funny how LSU gets in the SEC championship game with the same record as Bama....because they beat them head to head.

Funny how that logic works for everyone but us.

All I have to say is that I despise Bama and the rest of SEC, in the past I did not used to feel that way as much, but as I have become an old man, I just literally can't stand the other conference teams. I have always known there is a bias against the Vols, even as a kid in the 1970's, it was always Bama this, Bama that... I'm glad we beat the Bammers this year, and hope we keep doing it, and I look forward to September 30, 2023... Got that one circled on the calendar, and I may just have to go in person to that one as I hope the Vols bash Beamer ball and show no mercy. GBO..!!

Oh, but, Marcus Satterfield is a terrible OC. smh at the comments on here sometimes.

People giving Beamer credit for what their O did to us and Clemson are just wrong. All Beamer did is finally take the chains off the O and Satterfield. Those that follow USCe football have all talked about how he refused to play the young guys, especially at receiver until he felt they were ready. When they did and when passing first was used, it changed their season and ours. It was there all along and had been practiced, Beamer chose not to try it until our game.

Not excusing what DC Banks did, but we prepared for one type of O they used all season and they totally flipped the script. After their UF embarrassment he said **** it, we are going to try this. Banks did not or could not adjust our D after halftime with no Jeremy Banks there, he stayed with stupid instead. Result - a season defining loss. Hopefully, DC Banks learned his lesson because I doubt Heup will be making changes for next season with what happened last night. Had USCe stayed with their identity we would have beaten them badly as well.

Matt Rhule never took the leash off Satterfield at Temple either. He was afraid their talent was not good enough, so he used ball control and defense. He was probably right. But you cannot judge Satterfield based on the choices of his head coach. He knows modern offenses and has proved it two weeks in a row.
Nailed it
