The veer and shoot, when executed properly, still hasn't been figured out. And Heupel seems to have better command of it than anyone since Art Briles.
I don't see how anyone is going to stop us once we have a full roster of Heupel's players and are no longer susceptible to games like last Saturday.
That’s really good, and only fans thinking with emotions would not think so.And yet we went 10-2. Which is my point, I’m not worried about what us fans think we need. Staff seems to have figured out how to win games with the guys in the locker room.
And defense gave up 23.5 ppg playing with an offense that scores at crazy speeds. That’s pretty dang good.
All kidding aside (prolly, anyway), I think there is no way he comes back.Does anyone else think Tillman comes back next year if he grades lower than a 3rd round pick?
I think the odds would have been a little better if he had not seen Hooker just have a torn ACL but I still wonder. This season was not good at all for his draft stock.
Impressive!
Here's an article with full offensive #s.
Where Josh Heupel's offense ranks nationally following regular-season finale
To be fair, fans criticizing the defense are thinking mainly of the SCar game, and the defense deserves every ounce of criticism for that game. And as the leader of the defense, Tim Banks deserves criticism for that game. We've been up and down on defense all year. No real consistency. That should be scrutinized IMO.That’s really good, and only fans thinking with emotions would not think so.
This is what many fail to realize. As fast as we score teams are going to pass on us and we are going to play lots of players. Defense will be on the field a lot. If we average 45 plus, but only give up 25, we are going to win a bunch of games. As we build depth on defense and get better players, we will start winning championships. And yet we went 10-2. It was scrutinized. The team did not play well against a team that exceeded all expectations. Now, step back and look at the year with what players were available. The focus has to be on continuing to get better at all positions. It will take a few years to have that 98 defense. To be fair, fans criticizing the defense are thinking mainly of the SCar game, and the defense deserves every ounce of criticism for that game. Auburn fans trying to Schiano the Freeze hire. I guess they don’t want to win.
I know Freeze is a POS but this board wanted him two years ago before we hired Heupel.
There’s not a better proven coach out there that wants the Auburn job.
