This holidays, I’m thankful for our Vols in giving us a wonderful season and brought joy most Saturdays this fall. Thankful that it has made me feel disappointment and not be indifferent this time of the year. Thankful that we have reached the highest of highs and lowest of lows, and with it comes lessons of adversity and humility that sets us up for years to come.

We still have lots to play for, let’s get our minds right, get that good juju back and beat Vandy for our first 10-win regular season in 20 years.

Go Big Orange!
i think i'm going to have the FL, LSU, Bama and KY games just play on a loop all weekend.......

I do not think the final ranking or bowl selection process is going to be that pure. At this point in the season, there's a lot of subjectivity and bad losses hurt. I figured they would put UT at #10 to keep us in the Top 10 while rewarding other teams for looking better than the Vols have down the stretch. It's all eyes on Milton now. If he runs the offense without a hitch, easing the uncertainty of losing Hooker, we'll see.

TN has sold out every game we've been in since the Pittsburgh game. That'll matter to the bowl selection folks, that was the only sell out of the season for Williams-Brice. LSU only had 3 sell outs this year in Tiger Stadium.

I do agree we need to show everyone that TN with Milton is just as high octane of an offense though. But being able to put a product on the field and say you can sell out regardless of where you play (I hope we sell out Vandy Saturday) is something special.

🦬💩...ya wanna go toxic..go toxic, but don't think others aren't going to drill you for it...and yes being toxic makes you a garbage fan...that is not judging, that is stating a fact.
You go toxic quite often, but despite teasing you, I've not called you a "garbage fan". And yes, it is judging. It's not a fact.

Agree totally, this team has been special... not '98 special but few are. Sometimes a lesser team gets up for a game and the superior team doesn't, happens in sports all the time.
judging from the ages being posted, many won't recall this, but this team, reminds me of the 89 team, we were coming off a couple not so great years, w/88 being a losing season. but 89, came in unranked, beat a couple high profile teams early, and quickly moved in to the top 10, lost to Alabama and then won out, finished tied for the conf title and played in the Cotton bowl. it was a great year, that was almost a magical year. beat 4 top ten teams, and i firmly believe that was the season that set the table for the 90's.

this season, if we finish like we're capable of, could be similar in nature as far as setting the table for the future. so while i'm disappointed about last weekend and what opportunities were removed, it certainly doesn't mean all is lost. i think most fans, which is harder for younger fans, have to do a better job of not letting all the social media, click bait, 24 hour coverage stuff dissuade your overall attitude about this team, or program. everything's great, when everything's great. when it's not....it's the end of the world with some. just remember, it's all designed to do one thing....get reactions. so like WOPR ultimately figured out, sometimes the only way to win, is not to play.

If Milton does alright, then we should jump Bama. We won't jump them but we SHOULD. Who have they really beat? Texas and Ole Miss?

yeah, you take the recruiting going on right now, what hopefully happens wiht the portal, the 24 class.....i mean, really, you can't get hung up on one game. that said, we need to finish this season like we're capable of finishing it......

Clemson got waxxed by WVU 70 to whatever in that bowl game however many years ago....that didn't define the next decade for that program, and neither will the shellacking we took last weekend.

Some people may still think about that game in 40 years. McGill still thinks about the Manning Memphis loss. Maybe I misread it all. It's good that you can put it behind you so quickly. Some can't. I know I'll stew on it for a few weeks. Then I'll still be pissed whenever someone else brings it up. We all cope differently.
Yeah...but I still love the 90s Vols...we had a few heartbreaking losses during those years that basically ended high hopeful expectations for those seasons...but we beat the living 💩 out of everybody else.

Florida beat us 62-37 in 95 and THAT team didn't have a poorly talented defense. That loss hurt just as bad even if we knew Florida was also a great team...now that I think about it, I actually felt worse than I do now, because in reality I KNEW this team had massive flaws that could cause us to lose, I had been saying it every week before games up until last week. I did not see Rattler playing like THAT...he never has and never will again.

It is my fault I lost sight of those flaws that I knew in my heart were still there. It will always hurt when we lose games, and I believe there will be more seasons with good chances for great seasons coming with Heupel.

It will always hurt just as bad as this.

I agree with a lot of this. Totally agree that the staff, including the HC, thought that Rattler could not beat them with the soft scheme they started with. It became apparent to me pretty quickly as well that Rattler was going to have a good game. Agree that is when the adjustments needed to be made. They were not. Heupel and Banks need be held equally accountable. I am not sure the Jeremy Banks situation has as big an impact as some people think. I am sure that there was some distraction, but the biggest issue was scheme. With our talent issues, and we do have them, the scheme designed might have worked if Rattler was his usual self. When it was clear that he was not going to be, you have to switch it up. I also think we were confident we could score 50 or more. That did not happen either.
The offense scored plenty enough to win...in a tough place to play.
