I honestly don’t think this team cares anywhere near as much as the fans about stuff like that. The game the other night proves it.

To be fair, Heupel prob hasn’t been talking about that stuff. He might now but before that game we had bigger things to play for.

That game also doesn’t prove anything about them caring one way or the other. Only that young dudes continue to be young and take amazing opportunities for granted.

Tell me which SEC schools gave up 63 to South Carolina.

Under decent coaching and development, Turnage, Flowers, Charles, McCollough, Slaughter, and Hadden start at the bottom half SEC schools....schools that don't give up 63 points to abysmal offenses.

It's not that we don't have Bama or Georgia level secondarys. It's that we don't have Vanderbilt level secondary. And we have more raw talent than Vanderbilt.

vandy is def the only school in the league with a worse secondary.

its all bad

Peach & Fiesta are the semifinal bowls this year

So the remain NY6 bowls are
Rose Bowl - Big 10 vs Pac-12
Cotton Bowl - no conference tie-ins, usually picks the best Group of Five conference champion (Tulane & UCF are the only two in the top 25 of latest AP)
Orange Bowl - ACC vs Big 10, SEC, or Notre Dame
Sugar Bowl - Sec vs Big 12 (Bama seems most likely assuming LSU loses and Bama isn't in CFP)

Rose Bowl is probably going to be the loser of Ohio State vs Michigan against the best Pac-12 not in the CFP (USC, Oregon, or Washington depending on how Pac-12 Championship game goes)
Cotton Bowl - Tulane or UCF vs Could be a landing spot for us if we win...I'm sure a UCF vs Tennessee matchup would pull ratings
Orange Bowl - ACC sucks, Clemson assuming they miss the CFP (which seems very likely unless USC & TCU lose) FSU or UNC next best picks for ACC if Clemson gets in CFP somehow. We could also land here...Bama and TN both with 2 losses and 3 bowls is a good spot to be for the SEC
Sugar Bowl - Bama vs TCU (if they don't get in CFP) Kansas State, Texas, and OK State all could be there if TCU makes the CFP

We just need to win, at 10-2 we'll have the 2nd best record in the SEC and will have beaten Bama (most likely 10-2 as well) and LSU (10-3 assuming they get beat by Georgia). So you could make a strong case for us in the Sugar or Orange if we look good against Vandy and Bama sleepwalks against Auburn.

Milton has a BIG JOB this weekend. The playoff hopes up and vanished like a fart’n the wind. Ced and other draft-eligible NFL-quality players may opt out because that’s the world we live in. What if Darnell sits? Baron? Young?

I’m worried. Tase me and wake me up Sunday morning.

I wish our starters were mostly juniors and coming back next year. They've learned some really tough lessons this year.

Next year with current commits and returning starters when comparing this years starters and depth:

DL: Better
LB: Better (freshmen not playing are better athletes and Jalen Smith is the truth)
DB: Better (some dead weight will portal soon)

OL: slightly worse (portal a good OT and it’s even)
QB: toss up likely worse (In Milton or Nico we Trust)
WR: Better (Squirrel is going to be better than Hyatt and Tillman barely played - Bru will be a monster)
RB: Better (Sampson and Wright plus a portal will be awesome)

This is before any transfers which I am sure we will take a LB, 2 DBs, WR, OT, and RB. That is my guess on what we look for.

Cotton Bowl: TN vs UCF
Orange Bowl: Clemson vs TN
Sugar Bowl: TN vs TCU/Texas/Kansas State

So we're still playing for a NY6 bowl even with 2 losses.

Because
1. Big 10 has 2 auto-bids, but likely only one team that will have a good enough record and not be in the CFP to go
2. Notre Dame is already a 3 loss team and likely wouldn't be desirable for the Orange Bowl...so most likely that'll be ACC vs SEC and unless Clemson wins out and gets help they won't be in the CFP
3. Having beat Bama and having the same record as Bama we could be the best SEC team left with GA in the CFP

Yes, in the past. Now with CTE becoming a problem for NFL and baseball dropping off the cliff with young people, basketball and soccer are flourishing. If you attend a major soccer tournament in the US now, you would be stunned at the build and speed of the athletes. This wasn't the case in 2005-2010.

It’s growing rapidly and with the WC coming in 2026 it’s only going to explode more. Bodes well for the future of soccer in the US and what type of athletes it can attract from a younger age.

They said the same thing about our offensive starters until Heupel implemented his offense. My argument isn’t that it’s only coaching, but I certainly think it’s a huge part of it, and I’m not alone in that assessment.
Our defensive talent has been lacking all season. Linebacker play is bad. The few bright spots being Herring (athletic but not ready yet). DLine….Young and Baron are the only ones. Secondary…slaughter has had his moments. Everyone else is serviceable at best.
I will make an assessment at the end of year 4 on Banks.

8-4 or better and I'm good!

DL, LB, DB = I agree, if we keep existing talent and class together with a few portal gets we should be better at each level.

OL = I don't know if we need a OT or OG more, Crawford and Mincey both being back could mean we're good at OT, losing Carvin inside though not sure if we've got someone on roster that can plug right in.... need SEC level starter in portal though to be even
QB = worse...until we see it consistently it's hard to imagine anyone performs as well as Hooker did this season
WR = Better only if Hyatt, Bru, Keyton all return. Even if we lose Hyatt and land a high rated portal guy (should be easy) worse if we lose Hyatt & Bru
RB = I will lean better, I think Wright and Sampson both can/will improve and then JWT could take a big step...but I do think they gotta bring in a portal RB otherwise we may just be even

TE = you left off, I think Ethan Davis & Cameron Seldon with a returning Warren = better, also interested to see how Charlie Browder pans out since the staff brought him over from UCF he has great size and you'd think a full season here has benefitted him

Disagree on Squirrel being better than the guys that leads every receiving category in the country at this time. Everything else is pretty spot on.

Yes, and our offensive talent was thought of the same way prior to Heupel getting here. Hell, Hooker wasn’t even on the radar. Tillman? Nobody. Fant? Our offensive line was consider a weakness. You really don’t seem to be getting this whole thing. It isn’t like the offensive staff inherited a great situation. If you put Chaney with this same team, you don’t have anywhere near the production.

Seldon at TE? lol

He's gonna be a hybrid type I think...Pope/Alex both recruiting him...probably wishful thinking on my part. But rather than have him as a WR and buried on the depth chart I'd rather see him learn to play TE and be on the field more as an additional weapon. Could even end up at RB (he plays WR/RB/QB in HS)

Sadly I think that's true...18-22 year olds in a "me, me, me" world. NIL, transfer portal, and social media has only made it worse. At best they'll invest 4 or 5 years into UT and fans have put in decades.
Its gonna be an epic battle just getting kids to buy in. I think Saban is losing that battle after 15 years of “the standard”. NIL and the portal kinda gets rid of most tough motivation techniques cause they’ll just bail.
