President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

Eminent domain is a real pisser. I’ve never agreed with it and thought Helo vs New London was a lousy decision, but the reality is ... if the government wants your land bad enough they are going to get it in the end.
Agreed. That decision was a turning point for turning me apathetic about our government. ED is crummy but understandable for dams, roads, etc. ED for private enterprise with a higher tax revenue is beyond the scope. Another bad ruling from a questionable SCOTUS.

An unfortunate abbreviation....That's what she said.

Hooray ... Pelosi says good-bye but, say hello to the new boss .... same as the old boss. Most likely her successor appears to be Hakeem Jeffries. But, time will tell. It could be Adam Schiff.
Nancy Pelosi will not seek re-election as leader of the House Democrats
Pelosi's two stints as speaker, from 2007-2011 & 2019 to the present have seen the Democrats accomplish big goals, but also face some electoral repercussions.

Meet Election Denier Jeffries, Front-Runner for House Democrat Leader

I've always thought that Trump went along with covid spending because he was afraid that lack of income would cause business failures that would completely collapse the economy. Could be I'm giving him way too much credit, but I could see the need then, and am still thinking the rationale was reasonable. Congressional politicians might have had the concept of buying off the masses, but I think Trump had a broader view in going along; I'm not at all clear that Trump instigated the spending plan. It's easy to look back in hindsight and criticize decisions made in a crisis - and at the time with little information and little to fight covid it was a crisis. Some of the crisis was that we were simply unprepared medically and structurally to deal with what we should have known could happen despite massive yearly government spending on both issues.

Part of the hindsight seems to be that people tend to forget the more recent and moderate covid strains weren't what hit in the first wave. I'll forgive Trump for that, but definitely not his third grade antics.

The thing is Trump did necessary things that nobody else would touch because dems have no brains (but they are crooked and crafty buggers when it comes to buying votes) and republicans have no balls and little common sense when it comes to dealing with the masses. It's always incredible the nonsense the dems pull to seduce their world of idiots, but it works every time, and republicans are never prepared to counter.

Even aside from that, I viewed it the same as farm subsidy during the Chinese tariff tiff; if government action harms people it should compensate them. I didn't understand people's willingness to term that socialism except for ignorance of socialism.

Then again, I view China's purposeful exporting of C19 to the world while shutting down Wuhan province an act of economic war. Odd how a contributing engineer of the virus (Fauci) has his own WEF page mention....Anthony S. Fauci and did quite well financially during the pandemic. While running interference for the Chinese and NHHS role in the emergence from the outset.

Maybe not so odd Dr Fauci shares 4 lessons the US has learnt from the pandemic at WEF.

One of the greater disappointments to come out of the midterms are Republicans not taking the Senate. Fauci will not be held accountable for constant lying and democrat voters helped him. You would think with over 1M lives lost that all Americans would want to accountability and seek the truth. Yet, democrats showed again criminal activity should be protected.

"Never forget how this story has changed," urged Jordan.

"When it started off. It was, 'No, it's not his laptop. It's not his laptop.' Then it was, 'Well, it's his laptop. But remember, it's Russian disinformation, and no one did anything wrong.' Then it was, 'Well, maybe he did something wrong, but President Biden didn't know about it.' And now it's, 'Well, maybe President Biden knew about it and was involved, but it didn't influence his decisions.'"

What a disgrace
Nothing but an enforcement arm for the Dems

I heard Mark Levin - who was prudently skeptical of a red wave - opine that either the wave was predicted 2 years early, or that constitutional Americans are simply outnumbered and we'll know in 2024.

At some point, three generations of leftist academia solidly infiltrating K-12 this past generation, would produce the effect of superior numbers of leftists absorbing not just the governing bureaucracy, but industry, too, in a quasi-fascist society. It's literally a Marxist-inspired blitzkrieg against the constitutional republic.

Solid especially with the Levin reference. He knows his history and understanding of different governments and the characteristics and conditions that have lead to each, and eventually the repercussions.

The guy has an ace of a resume in the education, interior depts and chief of staff for a U.S. AG, and constitutional law. He misses occasionally but overall speaks from a depth of experience few can match in his arena, if any. I greatly respect the guy; states up front he's an activist for the constitutional republic and works a demon's schedule defending it.

Biden did deal MBS a brutalizing fist bump for Khash; no sense holding a grudge.

Where the leftist political outrage at this . Isn’t there a whole thread on on VN about how horrible a president Trump was for allowing this to happen and not punishing the Saudis ?

I still believe the world should hold China accountable for the economic cost and lives lost because of Covid, but we won't, and we can't because people like Fauci made us complicit. There are definitely some good and important things that might come from gain of function experimentation. It might spawn a viral carrier to insert "a weapon" to fight other diseases, but it's a far too dangerous practice to play Frankenstein when researchers have just proven to the world they aren't competent when our safety is at risk.

Fauci and others who backed the research should absolutely be held accountable. They've been caught like little kids playing with matches ... only Fauci and his gang almost burned down the world instead of a house.

It brings up another important point with respect to the global environment. Fauci and others when prohibited from conducting GOF experiments apparently shopped the work out to Chinese lab monkeys ... and we saw the result. At the same time we are turning a blind eye to industry shopping out manufacturing to China because environmental regulations here don't apply in China - and, yeah, there's the differential in labor cost, too. Somewhere along the line there has to be some common sense injected into our whole thought process. If it doesn't happen, there is no future,

Exactly. Often there are few choices where a dam or a road must go - geography and topography are going to win that argument every time - except when Petie thinks they are racist. A plant doesn't fall in that category; there are almost certainly thousands of places across the country where a chip fabrication plant could have been sited, but Schumer had to bring home the bacon to NY. For example, the Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant in Hamilton County was turned into a large industrial park - home to Volkswagen. There's plenty of land there and in similar locations all across the country without forcing people from homes. It should absolutely be illegal for any government to use eminent domain to take private property and turn it over to private enterprise.

As far as NY (and the environment) goes, my wife was born there - near Glens Falls and Saratoga Springs. Her parents moved to TN in the 60s - her dad is healthy in his mid 90s. To the best of my knowledge all her aunts and uncles who stayed in NY are dead - mostly of one cancer or another - doesn't sound like the few cousins she still knows are that healthy either.

No one owns property according to gov
We just lease it

Why didn't the Republicans fight the Dem narrative in this election with clips like those from 2016? Election denying knows no party. It is political malpractice that the GOP allowed the Dem narrative to go unchallenged

I used to think the GOP lost through failure to fight dems with dem tactics was in believing they should "be better". I'm now believing it's simple incompetence - the inability to observe, analyze, and adapt. You don't have to be the same, but you do have to be able to fight effectively. It why dems hated Trump; he turned it back on them. If he'd just been a bit less juvenile otherwise, the rest of us could have enjoyed watching dems get a taste of their own medicine.
