Does anyone know how bowl slotting works if we DON’T get into the playoff? I’m just wondering if there’s a scenario where LSU gets slotted in over Tennessee for the Sugar Bowl as the SEC runner-up even though we won head-to-head, or whether the Sugar Bowl is essentially the floor if we win out.

Just glanced at Michigan’s schedule. There is absolutely no way they should be in the CFP over Tennessee when/if they lose to Ohio St.

No, but we should have played Ohio State. They were the best team. We got a gift with FSU.

One thing I will miss when we have a 12-team playoff is how much these regular season games matter.

They will still matter. I hate and have always hated that stupid argument. You will still have to play great football and win games to get in, so the games will always matter, and then you will have even more games that matter.

What this means is that one freaking loss doesn't destroy your season.

Could get messy if everyone wins out but only one sec team goes to the playoff. Tennessee would have the best record and should stand to reason to be the selection for the top ny6 bowl.. Sugar or orange.

But then you'll have LSU as runner up, Bama, ole miss right there too.

Ohio St is a much bigger threat to sneak in with an L rather than Michigan. We definitely want Ohio St to win that one.

Nope. But Tulane wasn’t/isn’t a P5 team.

Again……not saying TCU is close to as good as UT, but an undefeated P5 team is getting in. And yes @SweetasSoda , the expanded playoff will help that……

I don't buy it for a second. Maybe for meaningless bowl games. No way they opt out of the ultimate Collegiate goal.
