All I ever hear is words spoken and NO actions taken to right his own ship of hate & violence. Anybody can speak those words but let's see Biden's examples on how to Unify those that have conflicting opinions & beliefs to have the country put on the right path to prosper. He said he'd be a president of all American people. But so far, he only pleases his far-left lunatic base.

This is a disturbing article. Perhaps more an Air Force decision rather than the administration, but it's not clear that decisions of this type are separate.

There are a couple of real issues at play. We've gotten so deep into developing the most elaborate and expensive hardware that we are sacrificing quantity. Worse is the part that the new and more elaborate aircraft have poor availability and require a huge number of maintenance hours for each hour of flight - that's without getting into battleground conditions with tenuous logistics. The best fighters aren't going to do much good if they are sitting idle and unable to fly - and there are few of them to begin with. In fact, if within strike distance, they are sitting ducks - more of lesser capability in the air is still better than none of the best. Go back to Vietnam and outdated Russian/Chinese fighters vs our fighters and strike aircraft.

Another issue that might be in play is that Okinawa is about 400 miles from Taiwan and even closer to the Chinese coast north of Taiwan; that makes Okinawa somewhat vulnerable. Some comments to the article state that in battle simulations China would knock out Kadena in the first round of an attack on Taiwan. That makes the assumption that China is willing to attack Japan as well in a first strike on Taiwan. The aircraft lost might or might not be a lot of fighters currently a lot of tankers which are crucial in this case - that would also include fuel and the Chibana munitions storage at the end of the Kadena runways. Such an attack makes some sense in that the US could support Taiwan from Okinawa. However, a first strike on Okinawa would supposedly free Japan's military to act - currently Japan's military cannot act offensively - only in a defensive role. For China to go immediately to that level of aggression, the implication is that China made the leap from taking Taiwan to a willingness to take on all the regional powers - a far cry from an isolated attempt to take over Taiwan.

Seems like this move sends a really bad message to China; the timing is absolutely awful. We absolutely have to do better at procuring weapons systems at a lesser cost unless we are willing to go home and let China and perhaps later Russia nibble away at the rest of the world which sounds l a lot like the Martin Niemöller poem about the Nazis.
