Chris Lowe just reported JM cleared to play by the athletic department!
Vols S McCollough cleared to play, sources say
Ahhh good stuff.I hear ya.
But I believe this staff is able to maximize the talent they have. Plus, some of the guys will get a bump, and there's going to be 2-3 more good to great commits and even 1 or 2 surprises we aren't talking about much now. And the portal will be good to UT this off-season and next year's class will be higher ranked than this one's.
There's gonna be guys wanting out of schools after position coaches move around and staffs turnover. Tyre West and James Pierce weren't even on our radar this time last year.I do agree with you Bass but I am going to wait and see what happens between now and December. There could be some flips we just don't know about yet. I don't get it either to be honest. After we beat Bama I thought we would see some flips but maybe they just don't want it to be known yet.
You seem butthurt. "Seeing copperheads" is a forum joke. Relax and unclench.I’m not. I know you’re the proverbial instigator and smartazz on this board, but read a freaking book why don’t you. And just because you can’t believe someone has had an experience that you haven’t, doesn’t make it untrue.
New coaches can sell the direction of the program with the opportunity for playing time. Look at Butch Jones here. First year 7-6. Brought in a 3rd ranked class that included Alvin Kamara in addition to 2 5-stars. Notre Dame, Oklahoma, LSU are all recruiting well now. It won't stick if results don't follow.Florida has a coach in his first year and they've struggled. So, them out recruiting us is puzzling IMO.
Cottonmouths have the visual acuity of about 12". They don't know what boats are, have terrible vision, and have no ears to hear talking (or screaming). They recognize an object floating in the water, and they like to bask on floating objects. They also associate those things as places fish and frogs like to hang out around. They have very strong senses of smell and could possibly investigate smells of bait or fish you've caught.Cotton Mouths are very aggressive. Been fishing where they chased us in the boat.
Who do you think you are? Encyclopedia Brown??Cottonmouths have the visual acuity of about 12". They don't know what boats are, have terrible vision, and have no ears to hear talking (or screaming). They're also inquisitive, so they'll investigate objects they don't recognize. I've stood on a bank and watched one swim directly towards me. Most would conclude that snake was "after" them. When it got close enough to make out what I was it bolted away and hid under a matte of grass.
It's all about perception and having a better understanding of these very misunderstood animals. They're never after you. But instinctual fear and lack of knowledge drives perception.
I agree with 99% of what you've said here. My point was that they didn't chase YOU. They were probably startled like you said, and having the rock dropped on them caused them to flee. They weren't after you. They were looking for a place to go.There you go, talking out of your a$$ like you invented the encyclopedia and everything in it.
“While they usually hunt alone, they usually hibernate in communal dens and often return to the same den every year. Beane said that populations in the "montane" (a forest area below the timberline with large, coniferous trees) often spend the winter hibernating "with timber rattlesnakes, rat snakes or other species."
Copperhead snakes: Facts, bites & babies
And you’re right about the chasing part, mostly. Snakes don’t chase people, at least for no reason. Snakes largely try to mind their own business, like the majority of the animal kingdom, unless they feel threatened or starved. I picked up plenty snakes as a child that were minding their own business and never once felt scared or threatened by them. That said, we unearthed a large rock, with multiple copperheads under it (who are ambush predators), who probably were very surprised (just as we were), felt cornered, and were probably not too happy when we dropped the rock in fear, and they absolutely chased us up a ravine. I’m not really afraid of animals (expect horses for some reason-mainly that they’re friggin huge), but that day I was terrified.
I’m not saying it’s a common experience, but it happened. And I’m not spreading misinformation. And maybe it’s unfair for me to characterize them as foul because of the one close encounter experience I had with them, but it is what it is and that is one species I will not come within a few paces of because of it.
I think we’ll get more and better than we did last year. May not be enough to make everyone happy. How many real difference makers enter the portal? How many schools will be trying to snag them? I'm just not as convinced as some that the portal will be a magic cure-all. I certainly hope it is, I just don't have faith that it will be.
twssView attachment 506940I have enjoyed seeing Tom Brady fail this year.
