For 2022, you are allowed 32 if you have seven transfers. We will likely sign around 25 and look to the portal to fill glaring needs and best available. My guess is we end up around 30.
That was for the 2022 class. For 2023 and 2024 the caps are gone, only limit is the 85 spots. But I have no idea where we stand or project on that.

@LWSVOL ?

Noticed it in re-watching highlights. I don't ever remember a misdirection and throw to the flat in calls under Heupel before. I think we will continue to see some new wrinkles the next 2 weeks.
He has Bru coming open late. It's actually 2 on 1 instead of 1 on 1. If the defender jumps Hyatt, Bru is wide open. Just beautiful.

You wanna see how controlling Heupel is with his schemes and how well Hooker executes, watch the short touchdown pass to Hyatt in the flat versus Bama. The scheme pulls the entire defense to the left. Hooker executes by giving just a little attention to the left before turning to throw to Hyatt. Hyatt goes mostly unnoticed by the defense and left basically 1on1 with a defender trying to catch up.

I didn't notice the little details in the scheme when it happened, but it's pure beauty to rewatch and see how our guys are executing and how good Heupel is at scheming plays.

*play is @ :35 seconds in the video:

I wonder if we can steal the SEC Championship from Atlanta, or start a rotation once the league expands.
They should. But keeping it centralized will probably be important. Make Nashville a perfect spot. Could see New Orleans or Memphis too to move a bit further west.

God only knows with diva Texas joining. Man, Bammers are going to hate having the Texas folks trying to run things and bully everyone. Meanwhile AD White will just keep plugging away winning championships while they fight over the nuts and scraps.

I like the idea of Memphis 😂 …you don’t get more neutral than that, and it’s sort of centrally located for everyone, and it would be good for Memphis too

Rivalries are always intense and contested. It's why we can't sleep on UK no matter what history says. See our "history" vs bama. That streak ended. UK would love to ruin our shot at the playoffs. If we come out with Bama-esque intensity, we'll be fine. We come out flat and we might find ourselves in a real battle at home.
Something tells me we’re gonna come out with lots of intensity..🙌🏈🍊

Do we have an outlier that would skew our numbers?

I don't think we have a qualifier for an outlier. The least amount of passing yards we've given up was to Akron (241). If we averaged that (241) our passing yards allowed would rank #88 in the nation so we just don't do a good job limiting passing yards. On a brighter note we're 45th at allowing passing TDs.

In opponent's 1st downs we're ranked #11 at allowing 1st downs by the run (41 total) and #130 at allowing first downs by the pass (112).

On still a brighter note - ESPN ranks our special teams efficiency as 12th best in the nation. Kentucky's special teams rank #111 and Georgia's special teams rank #119. That gives us another edge to go along with our offense and run defense. My preference would be a rematch with LSU in Atlanta because we know we can stop their run-oriented offense plus their special teams rank #129. Ohio State, who we could see as a future playoff opponent, has a special teams ranking of #128.

In the table I posted there were other teams ranked, even undefeated, that also give up a lot of passing yards so it's not the end all and be all. In any event I think we're #3 in the Nation in the AP poll not just because we're popular. We have the qualifications relative to everyone else for the ranking. We have to win the next two to make a claim for a higher ranking. jmo.

I think we’ll try and get a few transfers to fill some gaps for next season. Hopefully they’re top notch transfers and not “depth” pieces that don’t have much to offer and sit on the bench or not making a big impact like what we have been getting. Hopefully we get a Gibbs like player that bama got. A few top notch transfers. Bru is another example of a high talent transfer just need like 6-7 of them and not 1. I think if Tennessee can do that then we won’t see much of a drop off next year

Feel like the bulk of it is the zone secondary we seem to always play. CBs are rarely close enough to breakup passes or impact catches. We give up 62.4% and teams throw it 46 times a game on us, that's 14th in the SEC in attempts. Arkansas is the closest and they are giving up 36.9 attempts a game, but teams are only throwing at 59.7% on them.

Georgia (best passing defense in conference) gives up 54.5% for 163.7 yards on just 30.4 attempts.

I just hope a lot of these younger WRs stay put.

Tillman, Hyatt, Velus, all great examples of being patient and being rewarded for their hard work. WR is a position that you just need to have one really impressive season to get drafted, so if you've gotta wait until you're a junior or senior to start it doesn't hurt your draft stock.

I really just want Tillman to have a great run to end the season so he can get over 1k yards and be a first day draft pick. Still pissed dirty ass Akron is where he got injured in a meaningless game.
Hoping Holiday and Callaway are able to do that.

Callaway is an odd one. He's almost transferred a few times it seems. Last year he was in the 2 deep until that 4th down drop against Florida. This year I haven't seen him since his personal foul or ejection on a play where he got in a skirmish. Was that Akron? I'm not sure he played against UTM.

Carolina Jackpot is a Gamecock fan who streams some games and chats with people. He did the Alabama at Tennessee game. The final 6 minutes are pretty good. He goes from seemingly happy that Bama misses the field goal to being upset and turning off the stream when we win.

Starts around 3:59:00

The potential drop off is entirely dependent upon QB play
