Couple of thoughts on the Jermaine Burton situation:
1.) I lived in Alabama for 15 years and as a result have lots of friends who are Alabama friends (I know, I know. Consider it my outreach). Every single one of them believes no one should storm the field ever in any situation. That's what is driving their current narrative of don't blame the player, blame the fan. While I don't agree with this sentiment, for some reason they all hold to that belief. For whatever reason, they all have the same belief that storming the field is beneath them and their program and all big time programs shouldn't do it. Whatever. It shouldn't have to be in their program's history for other fans in other program's to enjoy it. Which brings me to point #2...
2.) Love it or hate it, fans rushing the field to celebrate with the players has been around since the 1940s at a minimum (that's a quick google). I would guess it goes back much further than that but I am too lazy to research it. In 80 years of fans rushing the field, there have been very few altercations of fans/players violence. There is very little cause for any players to be afraid in that situation...just get off the field. I don't buy the BS narrative Burton was afraid. Which brings me to point #3...
3.) You want to give the visiting players a reason to be afraid? Allow them to start assaulting fans with no recourse. Burton is frankly lucky some other fans did not notice this situation and retaliate. It really could have gotten ugly because HE unnecessarily escalated the situation. A classic "play stupid games and win stupid prizes" moment.
4.) I truly hope the entire football team is aware of this situation and that we get to face Alabama again. I can't imagine more motivating bulletin board material than a player from the opposing team hitting one of your fans that was celebrating.
Sorry for the long rant.
How is Bama going to play both UT and UGA in this scenario? You got me all confused.TN beating Alabama is actually an insurance policy. I know it's extremely unlikely but the SEC could potentially get 3 teams in. Also, if we lose to GA and GA throttles Bama there's a chance the vols get in. If Bama beat the vols and they lose to GA, then both Bama and GA get in "irregardless " of the winner.
Yes. Literally just went through this for King Gizzard tix. I didn't get them transferred until just days before the concert. Luckily just enough time to resell them and they sold in 10 minutes this afternoon. Far better than my experience on TicketMaster.I ordered two Kentucky tickets on StubHub on 9/12. This is the first time for me to use StubHub. I still haven't had my tickets transferred to me. Is this common? Something to worry about? Thanks!
If we can keep up the momentum and keep our heads in the coming weeks, this could be a VERY special season. We can not afford to overlook anyone and I hope the players understand that simple fact.
I can think of many, many more motivating factors.
Like the opportunity to play for a NC.
If the team was distracted by a situation that doesn’t even affect themselves, then we’d be in big trouble. This is the stuff of fans, not players.
Maybe not, but then again Hyatt didn't look that fast either at times the last couple of years...until he did.Same. I was like he gone!
Then I was shocked he got caught.
Maybe he isn’t actually that fast.
Well, considering that that's their intention in doing it, it would be naive or cowardly not to notice.I think they're trash but also care what they say because they're the largest college sports media conglomerate and recruits pay attention. I worry how much bias they spew affects the perspectives on young athletes and CFP voters.
