Ok….. thought you were approaching it from a different angle….. I was 24 in 1997…. ESPN did hype up the Big Ten bc that was the conference that they had an agreement with…. It wasn’t the sole/main reason he won though…. Michigan ran a huge Heisman Hype campaign for Woodson… They got him touchdowns via special teams…. As a wide receiver…. Running the football….On defense…. He also had 7 ints including an impressive one against Ohio State.

I follow football like crazy on social media and there are way more pumping us up than being negative against us. We even have ESPN personality Charles Woodson putting out videos showing him lighting up a celebratory cigar in our locker room…. My dad called me today talking about how surprised he was with all the praise Tennessee was getting as he was watching football today. It’s all about perspective, imo.

So...did it not kind of shock anybody else that Sampson got caught from behind yesterday? I thought "he gone!"....but nope he got caught by a freaking Skyhawk....after all we have heard about how unbelievably fast he is...

Did he slip? Did he just think he had it made when he got through to open grass and not really turn on the afterburner?

Anyways...I would like to offer that kid (Baker was his name I think) a schollie...pretty sure Heupel could put that kind of speed to good use..lol

I remember Alvin Kamara's first game against BGSU when he got tackled from behind like twice. I remember a lot of question marks about his speed in reaction to that. Ended up being a lot of nothing.

This is not to build a narrative. I am honestly puzzled at what I see.

Other than punter, why is one position group decimated by injuries and has poor performance? All of the other position groups are solid to really good. Is it just bad luck? Is it S&C issues? Is it underperforming talent? Is it coaching and development? Is it a mixture?

All we need is adequate, middle of the pack performance on the back end. Will it get there by UGA?

Lacking talent and depth in secondary.

Nobody knows how much or even if the backend of our defense will hold us back.

So far, the defense has been good enough for 7 wins in 7 games. It doesn’t have to be great.

What someone says when they know they were wrong but to stubborn to admit it. Good poster who has a horrible take and won’t admit being wrong. Even a Alabama writer condemns it but not this Vol fan. To say you don’t care about a situation where a young woman regardless which team she cheers for is smacked in the face is terrible.

CNS isn’t saying he didn’t do it but it’s ok because big bad man in pads was afraid. It’s sad that winning games means more than developing winning people.

Arnett is a good DC. However he's also working with a little but more than what Banks has right now.

In the secondary he is no doubt.

Pretty crazy to know that we already beat the best two teams on the SEC West, I remember a time we couldn’t beat any team in the West. We’re about to crush every team not named UGA. Can’t wait.

Thought we’d move on some from this mentality after we beat Bama.

But to entertain the corruption narrative, wouldn’t make sense to protect Bama this season. UT and UGA give conference best chance to get 2 in the playoffs bc they can only play once. So, money moves would dictate that protecting Bama would be a dumb proposition. They’d protect Vols and UGA. Money is money.

Our coaches are better than UGA's. I think we're gonna light them up. I think we get 42+ and I don't think their offense can outpace us.

Agreed..we do deserve it!! Seems like we have to play our opposition AND the refs..Bama for example..although they’re weren’t as many bad calls as normal and they were calling more on Bama..I’m hoping they just call the games even.

Thought the same thing. I don't think we've got a real difference maker at running back.

I think Wright could be; but, you can tell he's inside his own head now about hanging onto the ball, and it's affecting him. I want to see him get into the open field, see what type of speed he has. He's supposed to be a burner, as well. I've liked him from game 1; however, the fumbles have killed him in more ways than one.

Tennessee and Bama have never played in an SEC Championship game. For one reason or another I don't think it happens again this year.

Sampson is also not too far removed from an ankle injury.

I was in the end zone he was running towards, and I thought I picked up on a slight limp as he was running. I didn't really notice it on his other runs though.

The future looks bright as far as secondary recruiting goes…. I think our defense has performed better than the sum of its parts…. The future is so bright for our program.
