Disagree completely. That whole interaction was completely cringe. People stalking his social media pages on other apps. Talking about his wife by name. Posting pictures of the dude from other sites and then tagging his employer to actively get him fired.

The dude might be an idiot. He doesn't deserve to have his life torn apart by random folks on the internet.
Didn’t realize the backstory, however if you are going to act in a heated manor online, then do it under a fake account. I’ll never understand why people get on Facebook, Twitter, etc and then say under their real name that they wouldn’t say in a room full of strangers

I'd have fired him too. You never want your company associated with someone who sees hitting anyone unprovoked, especially a woman, as a positive thing. Every company with any sense has a social media policy these days, for incidents just like this.

But folks literally get arrested for ACTUALLY beating women up, and STILL keep their jobs despite their picture being posted on Just Busted. I know a dude that ran from the cops, nearly hit a family in a high speed chase, wrecked his truck and was found with drugs on him. Made the local news with his ugly mug and everything. Never got fired, and he got a slap on the wrist from the Judge because his daddy was a former LEO.

I agree. He certainly brought some of that on himself. But people take things way too far online. Leave people's private lives out of the conversation.

He's available for hire.

I don't own a business. Nor do I live in Memphis. I would have no issue if my work hired him tomorrow though. I'm sure they've hired worse people then someone who said some dumb things online.

I saw on Twitter everyone kept tagging his workplace, they found it on his Facebook profile. I kept telling them to quit.

What he said was dumb, but that’s way over the top. Don’t go after the man’s livelihood because you’re offended.

I'm the HR manager for our company. We would not hire a person who tweeted what he did. Glad he has other options.

I guess the way I see it is that anything you post that is accessible by another person is pretty much public. It’s not like the guy had his private texts posted online. Literally everything played out in broad daylight.

I think the whole situation is unfortunate but he has nobody to blame but himself. What ever happened to personal accountability?

If you don’t want a mob of keyboard warriors coming after you, don’t post stupid stuff on a public forum.

I would not want the wrath of VolTwitter upon me for anything 😂

especially when they went combing through his past tweets and tagged the company on where he used racial slurs. 🤦‍♀️
He obviously wasn’t the brightest of bulbs.

So this guy should not have a job for posting something dumb online... Got it. I guess he can always live off the government and take your tax money.

It’s called accountability. What happened to personal responsibility in our country? So instead of blaming the individual, we blame everybody else?

Them be the new rules. We may not like them, but 'they' have imposed them, and now we are going to make sure everyone is penalized equally.

I say good riddance if he in any way can be linked to his employer from the tweet/social media.

However bad his comments were though; you really have to be careful about restricting freedom of speech. It is an integral part of freedom after all.

The first amendment protects political speech, it does not protect ANY and all speech.

I’ve seen a few Vol fans on Twitter say to unfollow them if you’re ok with this guy losing his job. As a victim of domestic violence in the past, I’m pretty disgusted by this. F that guy or anyone else who feels sorry for him. He’s human trash and so are you if you’re ok with the comments he made. One day, guys like Burton are going to put their hands on the wrong woman. Ask my ex what happened. I laid his ass out!

He wasn’t fired for sharing an opinion that doesn’t sit with the woke. He was fired for potentially costing his company by having them associated with him and his comments that many would find unacceptable.

Plenty of business can be lost because others who worry about their own images and the images of the companies they represent might avoid doing business, even pull out of existing business they don’t want to be associated themselves.

I respect the opinion of those who say he should be able to say that on Twitter and even agree. But I also think companies should be able to choose who they employee for most any reason. If you bring them bad press and they have to decide if it’s worth it to keep you around at all let alone go to bat for you, then you get what you get.

Nowadays, almost all of the skeletons in the closet are actually online. You can pay a fee and learn quite a bit about anyone.

First thing most prospective employers do is look you up on social media to weed out the extremists on both sides of the fence.
