Bama player appeared to hit woman as he left the field…

Is there any truth to that rumor that Jermaine Burton is getting a big NIL deal to do insurance Mr Mayhem football commercials? No acting experience necessary, "Just be yourself"

I keep thinking about the one where the Mayhem mascot grabs the girl's pompom.

The end result will be
- Burton will sit out a half
- Sankey & his pro-bama Birmingham SEC Bandits will blame Tennessee for storming the field and pass a rule that women wearing short skirts to league games will be denied entry as it invites assault
- that commercial will disappear without explanation

How come you guys stand behind Jeremy Banks? He pretty much did the same thing on video and now you guys praise him. Funny how people forget when those dudes start running fast again.

I thought he just threatened something stupid, maybe I'm remembering wrong, but you may want to go back to the thread, majority wanted him off the team. Was he on video hitting a female?

He smacked her hand(phone) out of anger. I'm sure you can find the video. I can't remember what else he did, but it was violent in nature.

I'm good with Burton being kicked off their team but allowed to stay enrolled at AL, given many conduct requirements, GPA expectations, and community service.

Then, if he can satisfactorily meet all those conditions, possibly being allowed to return to the team next spring or fall camp.

You know, just like Pruitt did with Banks. One of the few things Pruitt actually got right.

A situation like this is worst case scenario for the SEC and Bama, even Tennessee in a lot of ways. This exact scenario, or the opposite, with a Vol fan punching a Bama player/coach, is why there are rules and fines for rushing the field. Imagine how much chaos ensued on that field.

Is Burton a scumbag for this? Absolutely. But I’m not sure the SEC, or anyone for that matter, wants to start chasing down these incidents, because they don’t want to open that door. It’s a liability nightmare for both schools and the SEC.

I get what your saying but I feel like this dirt bag is just that.... A freaking dirt bag. Was he afraid that girl was gonna attack him? Lol. What a freaking P...y! And let me be clear in that whatever authorities determine I am good with. But this p.o.s. needs to run up on someone who would have handled that much differently.

Correct. If it went to a legal battle, while there’s certainly a case to be made vs Mr Burton, he (and the University of Alabama) could turn it right back around and say “Tennessee’s security team’s job is to protect the players on the field and ensure their safe exit and they failed to do that.” It’s not as black and white as we may want it to be.

In the end, everyone would lose in that scenario, and Tennessee would make sure that no one ever stormed the field again.

Wrong again. If (how many people are in the lower level) 50k just a guess. If they all for some reason decide to storm the field there's no amount of security that could stop them.

The dude Steve worked for a Memphis based company so it’s likely his racial slur usage, once brought to light, contributed as much to his firing as his tweet about Burton with both putting the company in a bad spot.

Disagree . And let's not open the Banks fiasco again. I was perfectly ok with him being dismissed from the team and getting a 2nd chance someplace else. Again no offense to Banks because if he has changed then good for him.

Ok what did the guy say that got fired? Everything I’m seeing just says the tweet was deleted

Edit: Nevermind I found it in an article

Everyone knew beforehand that we'd storm the field if we won including Alabama, neither person in the videos did anything to provoke him other than walking close to him and if that's a smackable offense Dollywood would be a darn free for all.
I defend nor accuse no one. What I was trying to get across was that it is against the rules to act or react to a game in this fashion. As to knowing before hand a rule is going to be broken, well this is a sign of the times. Traffic rules/laws, drug laws, hell, most any "rules" are just meant as "guide lines" to a great portion of society this day and time. So you get this type of situation. You could say,,, "if you run on the field and get close to a defeated player or for that matter a exuberant winning player, you should expect consequences, you are on their turf, yours is in the stands," thus the rule....

there were at least 60,000 people on the field. Did he have a right to smack every single one of them?

Everyone (except you apparently) understands that rushing the field after our first win over bammer in 15 years is expected, even the President of the university.

SMH...make sure you don't go 56 in a 55 either.

Regardless of what her "right" to be on the field was, he was wrong, period, dot.

Let me put it this way. Not a single one of the 60000 fans that stormed the field will be penalized in any way, but his college career may just be over.
They were both wrong. Period.

What crime did she commit? And why are you so intent on justifying someone getting hands to the face, let alone a young woman? One of these things is not like the other and your willful ignorance to that fact is both disgusting and astounding.
And what crime did He commit ?!
