The Atlanta Braves

I agree with it being the riskiest, so far. Part of the territory of signing young pitchers to long-term deals is there is a lot of projection and hope for their health. Frankly, if you get 3 more years of ace-level stuff for $6 million, you're probably ok with a decline and subsequent overpay on the back half of the deal. In the end, you still paid $75 million for 3 really good years. I'd rather have current-level Spencer Strider for 3 years at $75 million than current-level Max Scherzer for 3 years at $130 million.

I just hate pitcher extensions in general. But the Braves money machine keeps going brrr so they don’t really care lol. If Strider becomes an ace $20M/ for three years is a damn steal.

…he can continue to work out with the team even if he’s not on the roster…
Are they still doing the travel squad? Im just thinking of when they are in Philly. But the point still remains his hand is hurt not his legs. He's faster than the catchers, Eddie, robbie, Riley. Using him as our emergency runner makes a lot of sense.

Yes. He can travel. Snit already said he will. And if he’s an emergency runner he has to slide, which is how he injured the finger to begin with. So I don’t see how that will work.

I think it is a knee-jerk overreaction to Tua's concussion. Coming up with "solutions" that have nothing to do with the problem. Not the first egregious roughing the passer call this week.
Won't be the last either, but I disagree that it's just based on the Tua thing. It's been some stupidity for years now. The one I hate the most is a d lineman swatting at the QB's hand and he hits his helmet and they call it.
