I think it will be the opposite. I think we're better than OM and that Levis will have a great game against them, then we'll expose him. That won't stop the Hype train from running off the rails by the time we play Kentucky though...
I think we can beat UK. I'm not worried about their offense, I just think about how they contained UF, and I think UK can do that to OM.
If I'm betting that game I think I'd just take the dog, but I'll probably just stay away.

The one drawback that I see for hooker is he looks really slim to me. He needs some beef added to play in the NFL. Otherwise I like everything about him. Attitude, arm, ability to read defense, running ability all good.
And: Levis sucks. Go vols.

Whatever OC/HC makes him special (if that’s possible) at the next level deserves a lifetime contract with whatever team he coaches because I don’t see the kid being good at all. Hardly impressive to say the least against mediocre to terrible non conference teams

At best he could/should be a career backup in the league, but he is absolutely not starter material. Certainly not first round, top 10 guarantee starter material. It's crazy.

I’d expect Ole Miss to be able to run as much as they want. No idea if Ole Miss d can stop UK, but UK has a glaring weakness with their OL play. Both lines for UK have been sh*t so far this season

I am leaning Ole Miss. Kentucky is not a strong up front as recent teams. If Ole Miss can score close to 30, I don’t think Kentucky is capable of matching it.

Awful. Funds that should have been used to help underprivileged kids and cancer patients instead went to build a volleyball arena. Unfortunately, based on the emails between him, the school and a senator I think it was, this feels like this type of situation happens way too often behind the scenes without the public finding out.

You would need to have a venous ultrasound of both lower extremities. Typically would have extensive swelling and they would feel warm to the touch. Is what I do for a living.

Hope you feel better!

Yeah no swelling, no warm to the touch and no discoloration. Thanks for the input. I'm starting to wonder if it's related to my flu vaccine from the yearly checkup, saw where some strains of the flu cause muscle cramps in the legs to the point it's painful to walk.

And I got the vaccine within a week...it's the only thing I can think of at this point, haven't done any lifting or strenuous activities.

Two words, Lane Kiffin.

I could pull up all the games he's OC'd or HC against the wildcats...but I don't need to. This is that "big game" he's been wanting where the stadium is full and he's going to be ready to score on Stoops. The better question is will Levis play poorly like is normal against SEC defenses or will he play well?

Alright recruiting forum. When we talk about our defensive backfield shortcomings, I see a lot of back and forth between coaching vs talent. Maybe it's both, but let's look at the numbers.

Our defensive backfield recruiting has been notably poor. Since 2018, outside of Alontae Taylor and Bryce Thompson who went to the NFL, we've had 2 (TWO, DOS) four-star players in the backfield. Key Lawrence transferred. The other? Jaylen McCollough (0.93 4* 2019). No 5*.

Taking a look at our current roster, Jaylen McCollough is the ONLY defensive back that was rated higher than 3* when he came here (I'm using transfer ranking rather than original high school ranking for guys like Turnage).

Of the 14 guys I count that are still on the roster since the 2018 class, 13/14 are 3* recruits. Two of them (T. McDonald and C. Charles) did not come here as defensive backs but OLB and ATH, respectively. The average rating is 0.869 (hehe 69).

Our three lowest rated players are Brandon Turnage (0.83 as a transfer), Christian Harrison (0.85), and Trevon Flowers (0.85).

No, recruiting ranks don't mean everything and they aren't a forecast for performance... but they also aren't useless. In some respects you can look at it as how much time or training will be needed to get the athlete into SEC level.

So, I am leaning more towards this being a talent issue. Our defensive line and linebacker corps have higher ratings and more >3* players. The defensive line has more than the linebackers and linebackers more than defensive backs. What a coincidence... that generally follows the trend of performance.

So how do you fix this ~potential~ talent/performance gap? Coaching and recruiting. Yes, maybe the coaching isn't where it needs to be. I can't say for sure from the outside looking in.

What are we doing on the recruiting front?

As of today - with months to go before this is finalized and no way to predict the transfer portal (for or against) - we have 6 defensive backs committed to the 2023 class. 3 (THREE, TRES) 4* defensive backs (Matthews, Smith, Gibson). Average rating of the class is 0.896. That's a significant influx of talent next year... and there's no way they're done.

Not only that, our lowest rated defensive back (Jack Luttrell S 0.87 3*) has a higher or equal rating than 10/14 of our current defensive backs.

So the talent and potential is on the way. And these guys are coming to play for Banks and Martinez. We have to be patient. This program is "ahead of schedule" in every category. If I were to give exceptions to position groups, I'd say the linebackers and defensive backs are at least "on schedule" and we need to be patient. LB is probably a year ahead of the DBs. Lots of young talent coming but still missing the obvious future director of the defense in the middle unless Herring or Perry shows out.

Yeah, "Remember get your popcorn ready?" That didn't work out too well. I think Kiffin is a good offensive mind I'm just not sold OM has the talent to pull of this win.

You mean the government bungling our tax dollars?

Couldn’t be.

Not just 1, but two volleyball arenas. And he didn't pay what he promised his word and handshake he'd pay. He pocketed at least 92% of what he was illegally paid in the fraud scheme that has put 2-3 people in jail and that he was supposed to turn around and give to Southern Miss...

And it wasn't a senator... it was the former governor of Mississippi AND the president of Southern Miss University. Luckily for them they clearly weren't involved in the fraud scheme and discussed in phone records that they weren't happy with what Brett was doing and advised him to stop being sleazy.
