4-0, top 10 rating, and beating a hated rival, has left many forgetting just how bad our roster was just 18 months ago. It is still not very good per SEC standards, especially in the secondary. It will take 2 more years to get a full rooster of SEC talent on this team. Be patient and enjoy the fact that we are way ahead of schedule at the moment.

fact is no matter what our coaching staff does.... There is no miracle dust that will change what we have at this time. This is our identity until we get more talent. It drives me insane as well but we are who we are right now. That is not a knock on the kids we have, they play to win and by all accounts are great young men. They give their all every Saturday. We need a few more pieces to this puzzle to be complete.

Same could be certainly said about the PITT game... Everyone thinking I'm all nega.... I'm just pointing out that while we are winning, we are still making huge mistakes throughout the game... it is going to eventually catch up with us... I hope we take this week to really break down tape and see where we can improve and tighten up.

We are about to hit LSU, AL, GA, and KY.... making all these sloppy mistakes will be magnified in games like these and may come back to haunt us.

That’s just how you see it. Football will never be a perfect game. You are complaining about a game in which we never punted. Negavol confirmed.

GT academic standards are not as strict as those teams tho. Only difference from gt and uga is a calculus 1 class

While I would agree we have a little talent in the secondary, I don't agree with the narrative that they are set up to fail. What I see is a lack of hips in the DB room. Our coaches do not trust our CB's to run with the WR. So instead of getting beat consistently we are making teams throw underneath and see if they make a mistake. We know we can score on everyone. Truthfully for most of our schedule we can out score anyone. The defense just needs a few stops a game. Once we get this years class in at DB then we should start to see a different philosophy and can athlete up a little better imo. Charles is still new to CB. Burrell is not good, Flowers isnt great either, Hadden has some talent. Tmac is flying around but gets lost too

I’d be satisfied if there just weren’t so many gaping holes in their zone.

Also it seems they’ve been better when they manned up and brought pressure. No?

Also if you don’t have hips that would seem to make the bump and redirect at the LOS the most critical thing. They’re not physical at the LOS either

I think Martinez is the problem. The last time he coached here our Secondary was very similar to this one. Poor tackling and always out of position. I remember reading on here years ago that it was mentioned by Fair how badly coached our Secondary looked under Martinez. No clue if it's true, but Martinez was gone soon after and Fair was hired.Maybe a coincidence or maybe not. But the the X factor in the that Secondary to this uears is Martinez. They were really horrid last season too. Martinez isn't even a good recruiter anymore. That's how he made a name for himself. Either way, we've gotta upgrade our Secondary talent and upgrade the Coaching there. If we ever can get a top 20 Defense, we will be hard to play with our Offense!

And where's Fair coaching currently.

Bad thing is our DBs are even poor at the simple things like tackling. How many missed tackles were there yesterday? There was what 5 on the one underneath throw that UF scored on? Honest question, what development have you seen in the secondary from last year? Had any player really stood out to you? Anyone that you can honestly say he man that guy has improved? We can say multiple guys in the DL have improved. Beasley has definitely improved. But who has in the secondary?

I think Flowers got better. Charles got better, the problem is the talent is not there. That's not a knock on who we have really. Not sure whats up with Turnage. We just simply do not have SEC talent back there at this time. Some are young, some have been here a while.

We had the second worst pass defense in the SEC in 2021. Currently we are dead last in pass defense in the SEC. We allowed a bad passing QB to look like Cam freaking Newton. Kentucky made AR look like a HS QB.

Tech’s academics would hinder his bread and butter…recruiting. He’ll stick with Jackson State until something bigger imo.

Would suck to be a big-rime 5* recruit and go to JSU, just for the coach to leave ina year or 2. . . though maybe not that big a deal now due to portal.
