She had amazing pipes, but it seemed that they always produced her songs just to show that. Sort of like Celine Dion, whose volume control seems to range from loud on up to sonic boom.

I wish Whitney had recorded some simple and quiet ones to show her range.

These singers who learned how to sing as kids in church… that’s a lot of what I miss about old skool R&B.
