I think the Ducks get better exposure in the East than UT does in the West.

That isn't leven close to being true. I've lived on the West Coast, in the Southeast, and in the Midwest. You hear about Oregon on ESPN and such once in awhile but you never get their ABC game unless they happen to be playing your regional team. UT plays on CBS often and they broadcast the same game all over the US. Now the SEC has signed a new agreement with ESPN to replace their Big 10 agreement.

The only PAC 10 team that fans east of the Rockies give much thought to right now is USC.

I have nothing in particular against the Ducks... they just aren't a top tier national program and won't be until they truly become consistently competitive with USC. That's just a bald faced fact.

ALL of the traditional SEC powers are more significant nationally than Oregon... even though both of us might argue they don't always deserve it.

new article suggests he may switch his last official from Miami to LSU and Arthur Brown Sr. has said he regrets some of the decisions made in Bryce's college search.

it appears Miami may be sending a message they're no longer interested.

Top recruit Bryce Brown might not visit the University of Miami - Colleges - MiamiHerald.com

In the article it says that UM coaches called both BB and his father on Thursday... Wouldn't this be considered a recruiting violation and a major one at that? This probably would have never crossed my mind before but since everyone has pointed to UT for using smoke machines etc, these kind of infractions are now at the front of my mind...

I thought it said they were waiting on the coaches to call back or they were going to call the coaches on Thurs. but they got the voicemail and the coaches have yet to call back. Miller Sr. also said it might be because it was against rules for the coaches to call back. I'm sure this is the reason.

Without having to read through all this can anyone sum up the latest word? How does it look for us?

Miami and USC seem to no longer be interested, and he seemed to really enjoy his visit. I say if he doesn't look at the OL players we've got coming back for the 10 season we've got a shot.

As long as we condition some of the guys we have, give them a better blocking scheme, pick up 1-2 big stud OL in the next signing class, and utilize hard-working overachievers to fill out the line I think there will be plenty of decent blocking for a guy with Bryce's ability.

Have any of you guys heard of Bryce Brown? I heard he was a pretty good defensive back...or was it running back. I can't remember.

This thread is about Bryce Brown coming to our town while the Ducks sit at home and frown. The SEC is up the PAC-10 is down.

I have very strong ties to southwest Kansas....specifically Garden City, Dodge City and Seward County. I have talked to several people over the past 7-10 days regarding Bryce and what they see him doing.

A very close friend felt that Miami was out...although the brothers are close Miami doesn't seem to be the right fit for Bryce...the city of Miami that is. He has heard that Chaney and Butler have a past and a strong relationship dating back to clinics that have been run throughout MO, NE and KS. He said he believes Brown will be a VOL. He was very confident in saying this.

I still think Oregon's chances are decent. Brown would get solid coaching there and probably be drafted. I think his chances of being well coached and drafted are better at UT... but Oregon isn't a bad option. If he's looking to play on TV though in front of national audiences and intense college football fans though.... UT is his place.

Yeah, we need a separate thread for this. Hopefully Bryce Brown will do/say something interesting so we can all talk about him again instead of Oregon.

I agree. Brown would do fine at Oregon but look at Jonathan Stewart. I knew of him from UT recruiting him but not all casual football fans I know heard about him til his jr year when Oregon was ranked #2. Even then though, Dennis Dixon seemed to get most of the hype

"He has heard that Chaney and Butler have a past and a strong relationship dating back to clinics that have been run throughout MO, NE and KS."

If true, that is a really strong statement in favor of the Vols...

Good job digging that up.

Maybe we need to watch what we say about Butler.

you know how lane said that the "key to recruiting is to find your champion with that recruit" it looks like butler could end up being just that if this relationship with chaney is real

That is a great point. There is always a decision maker or champion in this case that needs to be influenced.

That strategy by Kiffin and Co. is genius. I am sure there are more little nuggets like this that makes these guys the recruiters that they are. As much as I want to know what they all are I hope they keep them close to the vest. No need to give away free information.
