Gun control debate (merged)

Should the government be held liable when they remove your ability to defend yourself and consequently you are harmed by criminals? Canada for instance, with the knife attack.
The should be held held in contempt of the constitution and the Bill of Rights, punishable by a public tar and feathering.

Heck, the US government(s) is often not held liable when the government hurts the citizens itself. Why would they be held responsible for someone else?

We’ve already went down this road with the gun grabbers , they can’t use ammo for there end run around the 2a .

I don't think that prohibiting the sale of ammunition holds up under legal scrutiny. If for instance driving cars were identified as an expressly protected right then governmental intervention in fuel availability would unambiguously impact the ability to practice the right of driving. If the 2A is to be available to the populace in any meaningful way then ammunition is inextricably tied to use of "arms".

Now having said the above I'm not sure what limitations on ammunition might be put before courts. Could they be pushed all the way to being publically sold only as an FFL item like firearms themselves? Could ammo sales be limited to background checked sales with maximum purchase caps over a given time? The antis are not above any tactic to infringe in any way they possibly can so it remains to be seen what they will, at least try, to get away with.

Yeah, the question was partially rhetorical. But logically, if the government takes away your means of protecting yourself, then by default they taken on the burden of protecting the individual. They should be held liable when they fail.

Yes. Same with any business that puts up a "gun fee zone" sign.

If you want a gun free zone, you must assume the liability of protecting me.

This seems like a big "Infringement" on the whole "Shall not be Infringed!" Part of the Constitution. 🤔

Quick reference guide on how to report your family and friends to the State -

New York's Red Flag gun law: How families can file a protection order

Make sure you have conducted sufficient surreptitious surveillance

Petitioners should submit evidence to support their case, such as copies of text messages, voicemail recordings or other documentation of threatened violence. These documents should be filed with the application.

And fear not. The accused have no right to face their accusers - level charges against anyone in complete anonymity!

Petitioners may request anonymity on their application if they believe the respondent knowing their name, address or contact information may endanger their safety.

Don’t forget to ask for fee waiver too! Why should you pay to turn a disliked acquaintance’s life upside down.

State law requires a $210 application fee, but petitioners can request the courts waive the fee by filling out a waiver form.

This is gonna be great

Pro 2A states should begin to refuse sale of ammo to States such as NY and CA. If you buy for someone from those states you should be prosecuted the same as a firearm straw purchase.

For online orders I don’t think you have much to worry about. Soon they’ll be blaming neighboring states for selling ammo to their citizens.

bnhunt makes a run through this thread once or twice every three months , spews his gun grabbing rhetoric, gets blasted , and runs back to wherever he hides the rest of the year . It’s his gig . Lol
Partially true. I admittedly don't have the energy to keep the fight going 24/7 365. I do enjoy interjecting every few months just to make sure it's not a total Right-wing love fest in here.

Sure. If you look at the countries that consistently have the lowest crime rates these are countries that have much more strict and common sense gun laws than the US.

Is living in a country with a low crime rate automatically desirable? Saudi Arabia, China and Iran all have lower crime rates than we do. I bet NK does too. There’s a difference between living in a free society and living in a crime free society.

Yeah, when you get executed for being gay, forcibly sterilized, or having your hands amputated for stealing, criminals think twice.

I find it interesting that you only think a certain political party has a 2nd amendment right or should try and keep the government from restricting our rights . My love of firearms was nurtured by an entire family of blue blood democrats . Lol

Just further proves what many of us have been saying for years, the left has lost it!!!

Saw today where Clay Travis was labeled a right wing extremist by the USA Today and 25% of democrats believe men can get pregnant. There is no telling what we will see tomorrow!
