What other message boards are saying (Pitt Edition)

Additionally, a coach that has to resort to bulletin board material to motivate his 1-0 team, in their 2nd game of the season should be a major alarm bell for a Pittsburg fan.

Being a 7 point underdog is based on the number and dollar amount of bets. It's simply the odds makers trying to cover their losses. It's nothing that Tennessee has stated.

Boy, do I have bad news for this guy! He's clearly misremembering this; this was Milton, not Hooker.
I am pretty sure you mean Hooker didn't start, but Hooker ended up playing over half of the game against Pitt.

I hope Hooker benefits from that experience more than Pitt does and he is able to lead us to a favorable outcome. Pitt lost a lot but is still a talented team, and Narduzzi will scheme to make UT earn it.
"I hope Hooker misses as many wide open receivers as he did last year."

They don't realize they got a lead because Milton played the 1st half lol
Just because everyone else is saying it, it was Milton overthrowing not Hooker. There, I feel better now! Felt like someone else needed to say this.
Well, it wasn’t Hooker overthrowing receivers. That’s all I’m sayin’.
I just realized the Pitt fans are confused about the QB last year.

It was Milton who overthrew last year, not Hooker.

Why isn't anyone else talking about this???

Hooker and Milton aren’t the same person. They weren’t even born in the same city though so it was two different people last year. One was Milton, one was Hooker. Their fans are wrong about this.

The hole? The score was 14-13 Pitt when Milton got hurt and 17-13 when Hooker came in. That's not exactly insurmountable.
Thanks for the correction. Regardless, momentum was not exactly on our side. Again, my only contention is that if it had been his second start, the situation likely would have been much different.

Could've been different if Hooker didn't throw a pick on his final possession while already in FG range, too.

You are not wrong…but as I said, things could have been different if it had been his 2nd start.

I hope you’re right. Nerves are setting in already. I’m back to the point now where my work production is now being negatively effected because my apathy is gone and I’m ready for the game.

Good news is that the holiday made Sunshine Pumping Weds come even sooner

I feel for ya. After 15-20 years of incompetent management and sub-par coaches, I'm not sure I will ever lose the apathy for the program I developed over those years. I love my Vols, and always want a win, but I no longer really worry about it and losses don't really phase me all that much.

In some ways, I envy you.

That is an important point. Thanks for bringing it to light.

One thing is for certain, our fans don't miss the obvious.

LOL at the guy that thinks that Hooker was the one missing wide open receivers in the game last year. Doesn’t even realize that’s the game that resulted in Milton getting benched.

Completely different ballgame if this is completed.

That one hurt so bad. We would've been up 14 to nothing. You're exactly right, we would've had all the momentum in the world.

This year's Pitt team isn't nearly as good as last year. Our team looks like they'll be better. To me, I think we win this one.

He had not gotten the starter's reps leading up to the season. While the playbook doesn't change completely, there are differences in what you gameplan and call for Hooker vs Milton.

I don't think Hooker with a couple of starts under his belt would have thrown that pick at the end.

OTOH, UT can't keep just getting the short end of bad calls. The spot around the 7 minute mark of the 4th quarter was worse than the Ole Miss spot and as bad as the missed Purdue TD.

Or he could've overthrown guys like he did at the start of the Ball State game, despite getting starter's reps. You never know.

?

He played part of the 1st half and all of the 2nd half. Unfortunately his pick at the end of the game sealed the loss.
I stand corrected my memory is foggy. With that said the hooker they’ll see Saturday is way better than the one they faced last season

I’m mostly an optimistic person. I think it’s because we actually have competent management that have pulled me out of the apathy that I’ve carried around. It’s a blessing and a curse. Expectations are a dangerous thing.

Sounds like they have a bad case of “little-man” syndrome, also known as Kentucky Wildcat-itis. They have bought their own hype and believe themselves to be world-beaters. They were the beneficiaries of us choosing the wrong starting QB early last season. Had that been Hookers second start, the game would not have been close and we’d be looking to even up the series this year. Vols by at least 2 TD’s.
My prediction is Stoops uncanny luck of going 5 and 0 the past few years ends in the Swamp this weekend

It will be the most Kentucky thing ever, if this team and their lofty expectations, take a giant dump this year. I can think of little that would make me happier.

Here is how I see the game.

Is Pitt better a better team than they were last year? No. They lost a NFL quality qb and their best receiver.

Is Tennessee a better team than last year? Yes I think so. We still have Hooker and Tillman. And we also added Bru. Plus from what I saw from our other receivers, they are very capable of filling in for Velus and Jevonte. I feel our defense is as good as last year, maybe a touch better.

I think we win by 2 scores minimum.

This is the Johnny Majors classic...Johnny would have been doing the same thing, first or last game of the season. He was one of the kings of old school gamesmanship.
