I swear there are some idiot post on here. What in the he11 does your friends fighting in a war have to do with Bryce Brown. He was specificly talking about people who are critical of him because he won't make a life changing decision on THIER time frame. And he is absolutely right, all any of us have to do is sit back and watch him perform. We watch maybe 30 hours of football from the stands or our livingroom a year and act like his decision is more important to us than it is to the kid who will commit at least 3 years, day in and day out, to a program.
Using your friends combat status is a BS argument to make you look somehow justifably outraged because this kid dares say that he doesn't care what people he doesn't know say about him or his decision making process. Grow up.

Really? Where are the $'s coming from that are paying for his education? I thought that many of us were donating the money/buying the tickets to pay for his scholarship and fund the weight room and facilities that he has to go to every day. In order to do that, we have to work ourselves. I don't have a problem with him waiting as long as he wants to make a decision, but there are those of us out there who have more of a vested interest than just eating popcorn on the sofa and watching.

I think that everybody is just frustrated that 99.9% of college prospects had plenty enough time to "make the biggest decision in their life". It seems to me that he's trying to bunch into a couple of months...what every other kid started doing last summer. Too many people in this kid's head, imo!

The offensive coordinator at Miami was fired right before the new year. Seems like that might have changed his plans.

I would guess most people agree that this is an important decision for him. But I think the reality is, waiting until well into March to make a decision implies to some fans and media that Brown believes his decision is more important than the other 99.99% of players who signed their letters on time.

Would you agree that this "lengthy decision making" has more to do with Butler's career w/ potential players then it really does w/ B. Brown and his career? I know that is a stretch, but it just seems to kind of tie together. I want to be the one who believes that B. Brown just needs this much time.

And by that I mean this.....This whole situation has given Butler and his so called "program" more than ample opportunity to get RECOGNIZED. I'd hate to think that this is the case, but can't help but wonder? :ermm:

No one knows he answer to that except for Brown and Buter. But whether intentional or not, delaying his announcement has definitely helped Butler and PP.

Are you serious? So you buy tickets and you donate money. And this will change based on his decision? He is talking in the strict context of what is involved in this decision for him as opposed to the fans who are critical of him. How someone can take out of that statement that he is some how discounting your school loyalty or even more ludacris, dissing the troops in the middle east, is ridiculous. And by the way, if he is half as succesful as predicted, he will generate more moeny in 3 years for UT than you will in a lifetime, unless your name is Thunder or Haslam. A college star generates much more money for the university than is needed to cover his tuition.
Mainly, just keep what he said in context.

I have to disagree with what you have said. As of now this kid owes us nothing. The comment B. Brown made really had nothing to do w/ the future. I mean he isn't even wearing Orange and White yet, I think it has more to do w/ the present and where he is right now. He isn't obligated to us RIGHT NOW, or anyone for that matter. Whether it be the fans, coaches, or the University.

I wonder what else in his thought process needs to be covered....take your visits, weigh the options and make your choice. Not sure delaying it so long is a benefit....where is the new info coming from that can sway him?

Scout.com predicts UT will be where Brown ends up supposedly, but I'm not paying for a subscription just to read one article.

Brown unaware of scholarship expiration date

Bryce Brown told ESPN affiliate Web site InsideTheU.com he has not been informed by the Hurricanes that his offer has expired.

"Miami has not communicated that to me at all," Brown said. "Coach Shannon actually talked to my dad on Monday and my dad had a good conversation with him. After they touched base with each other, everything seemed to be alright."

Brown also responded to the criticism he's received from the drawn-out decision making process, "So just because people get mad and upset and think that I need attention, it's not like that. I've got to take the time to think about a decision that is going to affect me for the rest of my life. If people have a problem with that, oh well. I don't care because they don't have to get up and go to school every day. They don't have to get up and go to weights and conditioning and do all of that stuff. I'm the one that has to do that. All they have to do is sit back on the couch, eat popcorn, and watch us perform."

I really don't give a crap if he comes now. Bryce I would love for you to do what I do everyday or some of my friends that are currently in Iraq or Afghanistan right now. What an arrogant punk...

did your friends not look at all the options on there recruting process for the military to find out what branch really fit them the best. honestly what does the military have to do with the quote bb had said.

FWIW I'm "friends" with Brown's girlfriend (who attends UTK) on facebook. He recorded a video message to put on her wall, and it was hilarious! This guy has GOT IT BAD for her. I'm feeling very confident that he comes to Knoxville to be with his lady.

Is that true? Its hard to tell anymore in this thread.

between him and his agent, there could be trouble coming, and i do belive he is just waiting to announce to bring attention to him and Butler, but thats just me

love makes people do crazy things.......let's hope his gf keeps him happy these next to weeks. as long as he signs on the dotted line for ut, its good no matter how its done

by "girlfriend" i assume you're talking about his hostess not an actual girlfriend...either way it doesn't hurt that he's got a crush on her

Hah! If Brown chooses any school for a girl, it will be a colossal bone-head move. I knew this girl in LA that talked her QB boyfriend into quitting school on the East Coast where he had a full ride scholarship, just so he could move back to be with her in California. She dumped him for her ex about 2 weeks later. Doh!

I think some of you have been unfair to jump on ivtec_jrod for bringing up the troops, etc. He has a point. Playing football, imo, is a privileged opportunity that very few people have. I'm pretty sure that most people would like it if the profession they chose produced all of the adulation and perks that come with being a sports star at any level. The entire sport of football wouldn't even exist without fan interest and them spending hard-earned dollars supporting it. To dismiss the fans, in any context, is kind of a breach of contract, imo. It's like working as a spokesperson for McDonalds but saying publicly that you hate their burgers, you're just in it for the salary.

That said, I don't really hold the comment against Brown. I can only imagine the harsh comments he has undoubtedly come across over the process. I would be irritated by that too. Plus, it's not like he's some media savvy hollywood actor that knows what to and what not to say in interviews. I think most of us are used to the luxury of being able to clarify or adjust our statements right away in a conversation if it didn't come out right. So, imo, got to give the kid some leeway there.

I just hope that someone advises him that, if you are going to diss the fans, you want to be careful to designate who or a behavior instead of all of them. Would have sounded a lot better to say that "the haters aren't the ones who have to live with my decision. The good fans get that."
