(August 16, 2022, Washington, D.C.) — The Federation for American Immigration Reform issued the following statement, as well as a deeper dive into the growing border crisis, based on data quietly released yesterday by the Biden administration:

Earlier this month, President Biden took credit for the July inflation rate being “only” 8.5 percent. Now that July border numbers are finally public, the White House may take credit for the fact that “only” 199,976 illegal aliens crossed our border, down from 207,416 in June. A minor drop in border encounters is not encouraging. Traditionally, numbers drop in the hottest summer months, and last month’s figures actually represent a 325 percent increase over the average number of July apprehensions under the Trump administration. More significantly, July numbers bring the total of illegal aliens crossing our borders since President Biden took office to 4.9 million, including some 900,000 “gotaways” who eluded apprehension and have since disappeared into American communities.

Republicans do because they don't have the media doing it for them.

Did you see the NYT OpEd today that two ivy league law 'professors' wrote stating that the Constitution is old and broken?

I saw that and commented yesterday about it without specificity.
Yesterday it was a living document..today it needs to be scarped to get true "democracy".

What we are facing.

Pariah No Longer: Biden Admin Taps Saudi Energy Company Board Member for Top Energy Department Post

David Crane is a board member of the state-owned Saudi Electricity Company, a top producer of fossil fuels. It works hand in glove with Xi Jinping's Belt and Road initiative.

President Biden campaigned for office pledging to make Saudi Arabia a "pariah" and take on China. If his much-scrutinized fist bump with Saudi crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman was the first indication that might have been little more than empty rhetoric, the White House announced earlier this month that it is nominating for a top position at the Department of Energy the only American who sits on the board of a state-owned Saudi Arabian energy company.

Who could have ever foreseen an announcement of student loan forgiveness announced shortly before the November elections in an effort to buy the votes of Millenials and Generation Z? My guess is that he announces that he's going to forgive $50K/individual.
AP reported that it will be $10,000 forgiveness per borrower with an income limit of $125,000 single filer and $250,000 joint filers. Payment pause extended until January. Per Admin sources.

I love seeing how salty people are over "only" $10k in free ****ing money. I member when Nancy said $1,000 was crumbs, I guess inflation has added a zero to what qualifies as a pittance.

All these Twitter anecdotes are great to read as well. "I'm a lawyer with $100k in loans and after 15 years of payments I owe $150k". Lol like how? Probably the same people who make the minimum payment on their credit card and wonder why the balance never seems to go down.

"10k is an insult."

I seriously saw that on Twitter, multiple times before I gave up and left for the night. Like, dude, really? Granted, that is a VERY vocal leftist/populist contingent on Twitter saying crap like this, but seriously? They wonder why they keep losing Democratic primaries.

NAACP wants 50k per individual, I believe.

Consider the free money giveaway of the last two years:
$600/week unemployment benefit bonus on top of state UE- In TN people were receiving $1k a week to not work, and we're on the low end of UE benefits
$3,200 in direct cash stimulus checks
$2k child credit bonuses
Student loan interest forbearance for two years and counting
Bonuses paid to municipal/state workers out of Covid relief funds
Rent relief
EBT cards sent to any house with a child in a Title 1 school, in addition to free meal kits provided by schools

This is just a small list of individual credits and relief I could think of, it doesn't even include the effects of two rounds of PPP, retention credits, etc.

And what did we see come of this? With all this effectively free money, did we see a massive decline in the balance of student debt(or really any debt)? No. We saw savings increase, and as things eased up we saw that vanish and credit balances soar to new highs. The least harmful thing that could have happened would have been using this conjured money to retire debt held by the government. Instead people used it to overheat the economy during a supply chain crisis. These loans are so predatory and terrible but when given the opportunity to put a dent in them the majority of debt holders did nothing.
