Imo, if rock n roll had an "inventor", it was Little Richard (Elvis called him the greatest); and, Chuck Berry should ALWAYS be in that conversation, as well.

Elvis is the king because he is still the biggest, most important rock star that has ever lived; and, because he was an amazing, badass rock n roller, no matter who created the material. He has sold more than a BILLION records worldwide. He inspired those that inspired EVERYONE else. Most found Little Richard, Chuck Berry, James Brown, and all the other greats THROUGH Elvis. I'd have no idea who Little Richard was, if not for Elvis, and neither would John Lennon and the like.
Elvis created the bridge between rock & roll and the blues at that time. Dad was a HUGE Elvis fan (still on my playlist today) and I grew appreciation over time. Nothing to do with his looks, and still to this day, donโ€™t. He was what lead me as a white teen girl to Marvin Gaye, Anita Baker (favorite), Aretha, Gladys Knight and The Pips, etc.

I mean I will wait for quotes. Saying Elvis was a crooner rather than a blues man is something Elvis would've agreed with.

I was taking credit for saying the Stones were mostly garbage after the 60's and that the Beatles were overrated. I liked Elvis as a kid. He was a crooner but Hound Dog definitely was as Blues as it gets.

Never thought I'd see the day that JG would throw a TD pass in the NFL. What a time to be alive.
Hope he becomes a starter and wins a Superbowl. He didn't have the best coaching in college, but worked hard and never wimped out when a lot of people would've. Hope things come together for him and he at least makes a roster.

Here's a fun fact-----Paint It Black was written after Jagger had to fire Brian Jones, for excessive drug use, and then he was found dead at the bottom of a swimming pool. Listen to the song and check out the lyrics.

Wasn't aware of that....was just aware that their music became worse shortly after his death. Thanks for sharing. Also, Brian Jones must have been one hell of a drug addict to be fired from a band Keith Richard Simmons was in for doing too much drugs!

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘, I donโ€™t know how many clapping hands is appropriate here, so I went with 5.

Iggy Pop made it long way from the country and western bar out on Winchester in the outskirts of Memphis where I saw him perform in the early eighties. He played the Royal Albert Hall in 2016. I would have posted a video but Iggy is nothing if not utterly profane so I decided not to. But the version of Mass Production that he performed in London at the RAH is pure Iggy. Anyone interested in the course of American underground rock and roll should check it out.

RF, my wife got delivery today. A box with all kinds of stalker-ish items. A journal. A letter with the sender's cell phone#. A song/poem titled in her name. Some south park socks. Some Chucks with names of the sender's favorite songs inked on them. The sender is from 1000+ miles away. A very sparse FB and LinkedIn account. Both track to the sender's address in the box. So we called the local PD. My 10yr old uses my wife's YouTube acct to post videos. Mostly of her pet dog and lizard. However her and her friend have posted a couple of videos if them doing gymnastic stretches. Just wondering how this dude could get my wife's name and our address from a YouTube acct? I checked the About tab. No email or location listed.
